Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Alleykitten

this is the thread where i will give you the low-down on the alleykitten for NYC on new year's eve.

to sum, the alleykitten is open to anyone who is on these forums, all first time alleycatters, and all out-of-towners. the idea being that i think many people are intimidated into not riding in alleycats partly because they feel they don't fit in. well, in this one, NO ONE will fit in --so everyone will.

we will meet at sony plaza, the indoor public plaza on madison between 55th and 56th street (the flyer is a little off) at noon on saturday the 31st. i've lined up some pretty big sponsors and over a million dollars in prizes, so come on down and let's have fun.

i will post the checkpoints in this thread by friday morning. i just checked my original route, and it wound up being too long, so i am scrambling to reduce the distance.

**qualifications--
1)you must, I MEAN MUST race. sorry, no cp people or innocent bystanders. if you are halvsies on racing or think you might be too inebriated to show up, forget about your little custom t shirt!

2)you must wear your tshirt during the race (yes over your winter jacket is ok) so we can all say, for example, "i never knew ch0mb0 was so dang fast, this is the third time he passed me" instead of "who is this guy on the fuji that keeps passing me!"

3) in your pm, please include A) whether you are a guy or girl. screen names can be deceiving! and B)your shirt size!

So how is this going to be any different (aside from stupid easy checkpoints) if all of the experienced townies are going to be riding in addition to the newbies?

Going back to the impetus of ella's complaint- The "studs" aren't racing for they have been relegated to running checkpoints. What's left as far as "experienced" townies go are people who are normally viable contenders for DFL. It's an even playing field. Perhaps.
