Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. it's a stayer bike
made for motorpacing. i.e. riding behind a motorbike on a track
small wheel + negative rake gets you closer to the derny for maximum aero benefit.

"derny"?
A Derny is a type of motorcycle designed and built specifically for motor-paced track cycling events (eg: motor-paced races in six-Day and Keirin racing) or motor-paced road races. On a Derny, the driver sits close to the back of the bike in an upright (almost standing) position to provide an envelope of low wind resistance for the cyclist 'drafting' or slipstreaming behind. ...

Holy ****. I can only imagine what its like to ride these bikes, they kind of frighten me.
alot.
I imagine they're fun to ride in a track situation but on the street....
I give massive props to anyone who rides these. Insanity.
the gear ratios on the stayer bikes is also totally ****ing insane.

I am too lazy to read the sites linked, but how do the riders communicate to the motorpacers that they want to speed up? Is there some sort of sensor to let the motorpacer know to go faster so the rider can kick?

shout, tempo is for easy/ease back, can't remember what it was for attack, plans are normally made before the race anyway.

After spending a couple of minutes reading up at the link site I know the answers to your questions but I'm too lazy to tell you.

Allez?
But on a gear that big, it's even harder to turn it slowly, so you've no choice but to keep going, & shout 'tempo' at the pacer so he knows not to try & overtake anyone else.
And if you blow completely you shout 'ho' at the pacer, preferably before you've lost the bike completely & he can't hear you, so he knows to slow down & try & get you back on the bike again & back up to speed

"but one thing that can amuse you when your head's gone, is if you clear your throat, it'll often go forwards & cover the pacer's leathers rather than cover you or the person behind, because of the vacuum effect"
