Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good Jacket that has removable sleeves to make a vest? I often commute to work and when I go in, it's just cold enough to warrent a full jacket, but when I come back home, it's way too warm for the full jacket. A vest is just about perfect for the ride home.
I have a vest right now, but it's one of those Pearl Izumi Classic Vests with the mesh back. It's just a tad too cool with the mesh back. I would just buy a regular vest without the mesh back, but I'd like to just combine the jacket and vest into one and save the room in my bag. Toting a vest along in the morning and then packing the jacket into my bag in the evening isn't the best solution.
Thanks,
PBW

I wear a light wind jacket with a vest over it in the morning and either the vest or the jacket, depending on the temp. in the evening. I find this to work well, it gives you more choices. Over a jersey in the morning this gives you three layers in the mid section of your body where you need it most, i find it good to about 35 degrees.
I like pearl izumi. their products are top quality and are the good prices. Unfortunatley, i dont own one of their jackets. I got a $8 wind proof/ water proof old navy windbreak last month, so i use that. of course, you must LAYER!!!
UPDATE: Well I liked Pearl Izumi too, but I think they have a thing against us Clydesdales. They have very, very few articles of clothing that come in XXL. I just started riding seriously in March and I've dropped about 15 lbs, but I'm still gaining as much muscles as the fat I'm losing, so total weight loss is slow. But I am slimming down quite a bit. I've gone from a XXL short size to a XL short size. However, still got quite a beer gut to get rid of and I just can't fit into a XL Jacket/Vest/Jersey. Which sucks because Pearl Izumi has a nice Jacket that has zip-off sleeves to make it into a vest. That is exactly what I'm looking for.
So had to do some other searching. I ended up taking mrfix's advice and found a decent wind/water jacket and a good vest. I went with the RLX Polo Sport Speed Jacket and RLX Polo Sport Speed Vest. I'll let you know how they work. After thinking about it for a bit, I found mrfix's advice the best option. Plus this jacket I ordered zips up into a fanny pack, which is perfect.
Thanks for the help,
PBW
