Sounds like a typical summer day in east Texas. We have that to look forward to in a few months!

Sounds like every summer I've endured in South Carolina.
I lived in Phoenix Arizona for six summers, 107 is fairly common June through September. I've experienced it as high as 122 F, it blows, I can tell you that! I'm not willing to go back to that place, it's un-natural for humans, IMHO.

Good luck, find a fan to keep the air moving around, and stock a cooler with ice and water.

thanks Merton - us Aussies have never experienced the vaguaries of hot weather before. :D It's past midnight and still friggin 25C!!!!!
I have always wondered about one thing regarding Australia. Is there anywhere in that country that sees snow?
BTW - Like Phantomcow in NH, Maine is experiencing unusally warm wheather.

It can snow any month of the year in parts of Tasmania or in the Australian Alps. It even snows in Queensland, though not very often! We have ski resorts at places like Mt Buller, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham (all Victoria), Perisher, Threadbo (New South Wales). It even snowed where I live down to sea level this year (Gippsland, south eastern part of Victoria), although this is a freak 'once every 15 years' type occurance.
Freaky weather in the NE US at the moment, while Europe is suffering blizzards!

  I second Merton's suggestions. You can get through without AC in high temps. All I need is a fan down at my beachhouse. And that is only to get the air moving.
but here are a few more tips...
- you mentioned fan at work, get a spray bottle. Fill the spray bottle with cool water. Stand in front of the fan, and spray water at the fan. The cool mist will get blown back at you.
- If the heat is still getting to y'all carry a bandana with ya. Soak it down and put it on the back of the neck for a little bit.
- While working in the heat, and you have stopped sweating, time to start drinking and watching yourself.

Cool. I did not realize that Australia had mountains as tall as 7,000 ft. Certainly that height would see snow. It's odd the images built up in the minds of folks not from those parts. I mean Australia was either swampy river areas with huge crocs, desert with huge sheep ranches, or beautiful beaches with killer surf and killer sharks. As is usually the case, there is always more than meets the eye about anywhere.
For instance Maine seems to be presented as nothing but rocky coast line, lobsters and LL Bean. The real beauty of Maine starts west of the Turnpike (runs up the coast).

Go for a ride ;). I rode to work all summer here.. I think we had one or two days over 100. You know it's hot when you drink your whole water bottle halfway through your 4.5 mile commute.

Wasnt too bad at work today, was quite cool actually! No fans but i think some vents in the show room that kept that cool but the concrete walls and floow was nice. Went outside though and wow, I felt the heat, it is sooo strong its weird. Its still getting hotter and its 6.45pm, I dont think i'll be going to watch new years fireworks tonight in da city, catching a packed train will be awful.its going to be a hot night thats for sure although i think the change is here, the winds have shifted and there are spots of showers developing althouh they said only a minimum of 27C tonight. Currently just bearable inside with a fan on, outside, fry weather, 42.7C!!!!
I wish winter was here already, i miss the snow!
