Touring - New Zealand

Any Kiwis on this board ?

If so, would anyone have some tips/places to buy a used bike in Auckland ?
Maybe some newspapers or classified ?

Tried googling it, but keep coming up short on websites.

Have a month in march to do some touring and perhaps a bit of hiking.

Hoping to get hold of a cheap bike when I get there from Europe.

This is an interesting shop in Auckland. It's kind of a weird shop (you can walk around for a long time trying to find someone to sell you something--all the people there seem to be teenagers using the shop tools to work on their bikes) but they do sell touring bikes and accessories. The have a TON of bikes upstairs and out of view if you ask them to show you something not on the shop floor. http://www.adventure-auckland.co.nz/advcychm.html

I would say that consumer goods (including bikes and accessories) might very well be more expensive than buying at home (it's a small market a LOOOONG ways away from where most bike goods are manufactured-exception=local brand avanti). I'd suggest comparing prices carefully.

You will be hard pressed to find either new or second hand touring bikes in NZ. There are hundreds of MTBs and allot of hybrids. Depending on how long you are here for and how fuusy you are about the bike you ride either bring your own for along tour or if you are prepared to not have the perfrct bike for a short tour buy a 2nd hand MTB or Hybrid. As sugested in by Johny MonkeyTrademe is good value.
