ok, so im 14 and live in a suburb. in the summer, my friends and i ride around on streets and sometimes we also go on some trails in a park we have. for my riding, a hybrid or a mountain bike would work. so i just want to know how long mountain bike tires and hybrid tires would compare in terms of how many miles before they would need to be replaced.

I have a Trek 8000 mtb. I use it in the mountains.dirt and it's fine. However, I have used it on a paved bike trail to do 40 mile rides . When I do, the Panaracer mtb tires I use wear quickly. I don't ride it on pavement anymore for that reason.

My wife has a hybrid with Specialized Nimbus tires. Has been riding it on pavement for years and the tires show hardly any signs of wear at all.

If I were to ride my mtb on the pavement, I would put on something like (26 x 1.5) Specialized Nimbus ex tires that I had on an old mtb. Slick type tire, high pressure and rolled fast! Hardly any signs of wear.

well, it might be different for different people. for example, last year i rode about 800 miles, and the year before that i rode 50 miles.

Yeah, I guess that's different from 7000! :D

My wife's hybrid has about 4,000 and tires are still good.
