I bought new bianchi which comes with wellgo pedal wpd 800.
I'll buy shoes. But my friend says wellgo tends to make shoes uncomfortable to be in and out. This is my first road
bike.
I'm now considering to buy Look clipless pedal.
It's right choice not to try wellgo? I suppose Sidi genius 4 mega shoes since I got wide feet.
If I buy Look pedal, which is good for me between pp357 and pp396.
I found pp396(from $200 to $120) had much bigger discount than pp 357(from $140 to $130).
Why?

I love this site and got a lot of knowledge and
information from you. Thanks.
Good day and good ride. Dude!

Wellgo makes cheap junk, pure and simple. The Wellgo look-alike pedal I had lasted a grand total of 6 rides before it broke, and I was already looking for a better pedal when it did. The online retailer I bought it from refused my return (I bought it 3 months earlier, in the winter, and they only gave a 30-day return), so, instead, I ripped it apart. Lots of stressed plastic parts, only one race of bearings (the other side was merely a bushing with grease)-what a pile of dreck!!
Yes, buy something better.

I agree on that one, I love my Looks. I started out with wellgo's a long time ago (cheap pair to get me into clipless) My third real ride with them I thougth I was shot in the ball of my foot.. thats how they felt...

Hope that helps

I really like my Look pedals. I have the P396, which is just fine. I think the 357s -- which don't have adjustable float, but were less expensive -- just sold better, and retailers have a lot more PP396s to clear...

My '99 Raleigh came with welgo pedals. I've got right at 8700 miles on them with no compaints. The only thing I don't like about them is, around thirty miles into a ride the cleat starts squeaking(Annoying as h$ll). These are the only Road clipless I've ridden so take it for what it's worth

My '99 Bianchi came with Bianchi Logo'ed SPD Wellgos. These were my first experience with clipless pedals, and I'm sure I abused them quite a bit getting while getting the hang of clipping/unclipping.

I rode them something like 5K miles, and have subsequently moved them among several other bikes. They still work great.

Based on that experience I bought a set of Wellgo SPD road pedals for another bike (paid about $40). these lasted all of 500 miles before the drive-side, inboard bearing housing broke. My LBS replaced the set. These lasted less than 300 miles before a similar failure with the non drive-side.

If you want to stay with SPD's, take a look at the Ritchey Logic Road pedals. They're light and strong, nicely finished and have easily adjustable tension adjustments. I think they've been discontinued by Ritchey, but you can still find them at discount at some online shops.

Good luck!

I've got around 9,700 miles on my Wellgos. I've had 4 pedals total. One broke. I got into them for the same reason as the other riders, they were cheap.
My next pedals won't be Wellgos, but I learned that I like the SPD feel from them...and I got my money's worth.

Wellgos are cheap, yes. They will work, but only for 2 or 3 seasons before they wear out. As for hurting feet, that is a function of the shoe, not the pedal. If your feet hurt because of the cleat, than your sole is not stiff enough for the type of pedal.

I have been running Wellgos (R4's, an SPDr lookalike) for a couple years, but I am almost to the point where I am going to switch to speedplay. Besides the squeaking, the cleats are hard to find when they need to be replaced and they offer only the bare minimum in float (4 deg). For someone looking to not spend a lot of money getting into clipless, they will work.

yeah wellgo's are crap from my experience.. I am very happy with my Look 206's though and they only were like $75.
