Right now all my snow and ice is gone.
I took a road bike out yesterday, it was nice but, I want my ice back. It's supposed to snow 1"
tomorrow. Big deal. :(
Who wants MORE SNOW AND ICE to ride ? Any more Photos of winter riding? If you have never used studded tires look at the tracks across a puddle with studs.

We got a wonderful dumping last night. I got off work at Midnight got home and decided it was worth getting the studded tired fixed gear out and ride through the snow storm. I forgot important physics of snow riding: pushing wide tires with studs and knobs is tough in normal conditions. Pushing the same said tires through 3 inches of white stuff is even more difficult. A fixed gear is just that fixed in ONE GEAR, there was no down shifting out there last night. Yes I ride a flip flop hub with a larger gear on the one side than the other, but I thoughtfully decided the best place for the 15mm wrench end was at home, so changing gearing wasn't going to happen. I rode through this snowstorm where it started with 3 inches, and by the time I hit home there were about 4. I did the Greenway loop. I loved it.
Sorry to hear about your snow and ice disappearing, I hear there's this global warming thing going on.
I like warm weather, but I am getting tired of all the sweat and the rain when I get to work. I like before, when it was cold, but at the same time, I was totally comfortable and got to work without being drenched in sweat all the time (or arriving home drenched in sweat either). I got my winter gear- I need to use it already!

I would love more snow but not until after Monday?
I have a New Year's Day century planned for Sunday, the TFCE metric from Tiverton HS then the NBW ride, but the long drive- if and when it snows? Worse would be the rain/sleet that is more likely and more likely to be wet and make a long ride uncomfortable.
Happy New Year.
We had HUGE New Year's Eve flakes that must have been an inch and a half wide. The snow didn't last long though and only seems to have stuck on cars. Maybe we'll get some more around Midnight.

It was raining and sleeting and even snowing a bit today, I didn't find it uncomfortable at all as I took the new bike out for her paces. Now if I were riding TO work, I would have been uncomfortable, but something about riding home from work or on my own time makes nothing old Mother Nature can throw at me feel uncomfortable.
Look at the bright side...we still have the worst months of winter in front of us! Happy New Year!
We finally got a light dusting in Lansing. I got to ride in some on my way home from work late Friday night with a STRONG headwind from the south. The wet flakes stinging my face felt good.
Now I'm up north in Traverse City. They got (I heard) almost 100 inches early in the winter (most would call it late in the fall), but most melted. Now they seem to have 6 inches or so on the ground. I want more!
Seems like everyone is starting off 2006 with a good ride. :) :)
I managed to get in 6 hours today. Here's my ride.........

I HATE, HATE, HATE cold rain. Everything stays wet. Nothing but mud out there. I don't necessarily need snow. But I need that damn mud to freeze. Just give me some sub 32° weather so I can ride again.
