Commuting - Is there a quality mirror out there?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I can't get used to the helmet mounted mirrors-too small and the glue mount breaks down and they always get bumped and need adjusting. Don't like the bar end types either. Does anyone know of a bar mounted model (I guess with a clamp) that doesn't look too geeky.
Just an idea. I know it's a helmet mount but is really is pretty cool. It's made from a recycled spoke, pretty good sized mirror. Not too big, not too small. I bought one and really like it. Very indestructable. Handmade by Chuck Harris.

The thing with helmet and glass mounted mirrors is that there's a period in which you have to get used to them. Lots of people chuck em when they find that they can't focus on using it properly, and they usually don't know about the time it takes to get used to em...

I know you're not too interested in bar end mirrors, but these are pretty sweet. It's slightly bubbled out so you can easily spot cars as long as it was adjusted right when applied.

I found some really nice mirrors on e-bay by searching
under..........motorscooter or moped.
The mirrors I got were easy to mount with vinyl covered "P"
clamps and have a nice black finish with a good glass mirror.
When mounted as pair they look nice in black as they are low key
for as large as they are. Cost me about $14 a set if I remember right.

It's funny, because I tried several bar ends, plus take-a-look, and finally a CycleAware Reflex. The Reflex was the only mirror I didn't have to get used to. About 1 mile out on my first morning with it on my helmet, I realized that I had been using it COMPLETELY without thinking about it. I have not had that experience with any other mirror.
I've had trouble with all other mirrors falling off in low temps or getting constantly out of adjustment; the Reflex has had none of these problems.

My mirror woes have been taken care of with this one:

I mount it underneath the handlebars and have tighten the middle joint by putting a small hose clamp around it.

Notice that the picture shows it mounted to the right side of the handlebars. I have one of those, and I swear it's for UK cyclists -- when mounted on the left it just seems upside down. It works OK, but I think it would be better if it was flipped.

This mirror is manufactured in Germany, Bavaria if I remember correctly, and I picked up a suggestion for this mirror first on a German list. The mounting under the handlebars makes you see the vehicles that pass you within the widest part of the mirror. With the mirror underneath, I don't worry about flipping the bike to change a wheel.
While the low mounting is best for me, I agree that that it might best for consumers if they had the option of choosing between two mirror orientations. Otherwise, my impression is that the retailers don't know what to make out of this mirror and just shoot a photo of some mounting.
Incidentally, I saw this mirror being marketed for German cars, glued to the windshield again in the 'low' mounting.
