There was a LBS here in Albuquerque NM called "Absolutely Recumbents" that only sold recumbents. Unfortunately, it didn't make it and closed a couple years back.

I visit a really cool shop in Anahaim California call People Movers (http://www.recumbent.com/recumbent.html) as far as i know they only sell, talk and dream about recumbents, really nice group of people..

I use to go there when i visit L.A. for the Interbike expo, but since now the show is in Las Vegas i have no reason to go to Lalaland..

I hope this helps

The Hostel Shoppe in Stevens Point, WI sells only recumbents on their online site, but I was in the store a couple months ago and they had some DFs. They may be the only bike shop(not sure) in Stevens Point.

Bent Up Cycles in Burbank or maybe it's Van Nuys (not sure exactly). They have a web site. The owner, Dana, is a great guy from what I've heard (I've met him, too, and he is a great guy, but what I mean is from a bike sales perspective). Really helps you find the best bike for you.

Northeast Recumbents in New Jersey. Not strictly a LBS though, they have day jobs, and are open for those who make phone arrangements.

http://www.bicycleman.com/ is mostly 'bents. He's also the manufacturer of Linear Recumbents. My pops (a 60 year old rider) recently got his SECOND 'bent (not from bicycle man but *shrugs*) got his first one, a Rans, from bicycle man.

It's in Alfred NY

Ride South in Flowood, Ms sells more than just recumbents (they sell a few 'regular bikes' and some cruisers as well as kayaks) but their main business is recumbents. 90% of what they had on the floor when I was there last was recumbents or trikes.

So, in a nation as large as the U.S. (Sorry Europe and Australia, but I'm just assuming the OP is referring to recumbent LBS' in the U.S.) there are, so far, less than a dozen recumbent-only LBSs?

I envision some archaeologist, a few million years in the future who, upon excavating an extremely rare recumbent LBS, postulates that there were simply too few of the species to successfully propogate.

I hope I'm wrong. Alternative theories are invited.

Of the dozen or so listed, by the posters' own admission most if not all carry other stuff too. That shouldn't be so surprising. Bike shops are pretty low-margin businesses; in fact one by one it seems they're going under due to price pressure from the mailorder shops. While it's one thing to concentrate on a certain niche it's economic suicide to limit your business to that niche.

Yeah, my LBSs one of them sells sewing machines and vacuums. The one I use the most has an electric motor and repair business, although I think that is a small part of his business. Just something to help him through the winter months.

If your in Chi-town area, you should make a saturday trip to the Hostel Shop. I drove 2 hours to pick up my Corsa from Bent Up cycles in North Hollywood/Burbank area. I'm in San Diego. Worth the trip to test ride and check out the selection.

I'm not sure what to make of Meb's comment that "They are pretty big on fixies." Doesn't seem to match with the Hostelle Shoppe in Stevens Point that I've been to.

The Hostelle Shoppe even has thier own line of bikes, Volae, made right here in Wisconsin by the well known Waterford folks.
