If a thread is moved or trashed the original poster will be notified. We do not notify everyone in the thread. If you are more specific we might be able to help you figure out where a thread went.

I posted something here about the creation of a Long Distance subforum, and I included a link to a poll in the Road forum. It stayed here for about 24 hours ....... and then vanished. No explanation. Should I repost it, or can you find it for me?

Please don't repost. When a thread is created to link to another thread, it is always deleted- we don't allow double posting here on bikeforums.

OK, then can you move my poll into this forum?

I was asking a question about the creation of a subforum, but I have received no replies from any of the moderators.

(And btw - including a link to another thread isn't double posting ... it is redirecting or showing someone where they can get more information on the topic at hand. :))

Whether you create the same thread twice in two forums or create a new thread with a link to the thread asking people to look and participate is the same result- double posting. The second way is just circumventing the double post no-no.

I'll move the poll.

I wasn't asking for participation in the poll over here ... I was asking the moderators (or whoever is responsible for creating subforums) if it were possible for the subforum I mentioned in the poll to be created in time for the new year. And so that the moderators (or whoever is responsible for creating subforums) wouldn't be confused, and wonder what I was talking about, I included a link to the poll for reference purposes. It was a gesture of courtesy.

I thought this was the place to make those sorts of requests. If this isn't the forum to make such requests, could someone direct me to the correct place. Thanks. :)

This is the place. But it would be nice to be clearer about the purpose. In any case, if that was the purpose, the thread would have been modified to clarify things a bit. It still is a double thread, and either 1) the first thread should have been placed in the User Assistance forum or 2) the second thread shouldn't have been created to begin with, since it brings us back to the first no-no: creating double posts.

I guess I should clarify a bit- maybe you don't know, but the mods read through quite a few posts. So if we've seen it in one forum, creating it again here is a bit redundant for us, which may explain why I saw it as a double post. We've seen the other thread-believe me. Hopefully, that explains the thinking a bit more, since we're going around and around on this.

That was the one and only purpose behind that thread, and I thought I was pretty clear. I believe I made my request, and referenced the poll to help the moderators understand what I was talking about, and to show them the interest in having such a subforum. I'm not sure how I could have been clearer.

Nevertheless ... I would still like to make that request for the subforum, and would like to reference the poll I'm talking about, so you all know what I'm talking about. How would you suggest I go about it?

It's already done. The thread was moved to this forum (Assistance). If you're concerned about mods seeing or not seeing it, now that it's in this forum, they'll see it.

Why not just close the threads so that they can still be viewed but not responded to?
