Earlier this season I had some problems with my SPD M-959 pedals.
Un-clipping was great as usual, but clipping-in was problematic in the
mud and snow.

So now I'm looking at crank bros. Eggbeaters which by searching here
and looking at pro bikes seem like the unqualified favorite. Here's my
question: Other than weight why shell out more for the more expensive
versions? At competitivecyclist.com the chromes sell for $89.99 (or $50
on ebay) while the Ti's go for $179.99 (ebay: $130) Is that really just
for 64 grams?

Oh and what's the deal with candy's?

I run the Stainless Egg's on my race bike and the Cromoly's on my back up bike. The only difference is the weight and price. Both work perfect.

The pedal action on a Crank Bros. pedal is a little loosey-goosey but you get used to it. And it can still jam if you fill your cleat with mud.

I like them because you never have to rotate them.
