Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - First fix of the year - where'd you ride today?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I rode solo through southeastern Scott County, KY - out of Georgetown, across Great Crossing, up toward Skullbuster, down through Stamping Ground, past Midway & then home. The sky was overcast, with temps in the low fifties. A good ride - I saw two herons along the way.

Where'd you ride today?

Went round the hood for a while. It was over 50 here with nice south warm breeze. Perfect day for riding.

Did 15 miles around suburban S.E. Mi. today. Coffee shop run with a group of 9 mountain bikers. Temps steady around 40. Mostly pavement as the dirt roads were covered in mud and slush and the trails were unrideable. I had to blast off and leave them each time we would come to a hill climb.
Sure beat lying around on the couch.

Didn't track milage. I live up on a creek. Road down and crossed the river, up over a mesa, down the other side, a few stops in town to wish some Happys, then followed the river upstream to my county road. There were kayakers doing stunts in the river -- a ritual. Beautiful day, started with a light snow, then sun and a light breeze. I wish each of you a beautiful day like today. and a happy new year. Respects to you all.

4 mile 2,000' climb in the rain up a fire-road and then some nice singletrack riding then more climbing then more singletrack. Rinse, repeat. Love riding in the rain - a bonus with living in the San Gabriel Mtns, the trails are all decomposed granite so riding in the rain actually makes conditions better and doesn't screw with the trails.

i did about 5 miles of singletrack and another 10 miles getting to the trailhead and back. it was a really nice gray day ride.

hey 32:17, big thumbs up for the 'sysiphus' (although it's sisyphus). is it in tribute to camus, schopenhauer, or just greek mythology?

To the top of a parking garage. Shot some photos, tore up some pavement/tread, shot some more photos, and then came home to make 1" buttons. It's been a great year.

The mummers parade outside my window woke me up at 9am so I decided to nurse a minor hangover with a ride around the city taking pictures of the freaks. The roads were all blocked off which was nice.

Damn Dyslexia. I read and re-read my posts but never paid attention to that. More of a tribute to Camus with a little Schopenhauer thrown in for seasoning. My wife is more the Greek Mythology geek - our daughter's name is Eris after all.

what a wet ride this morning, even with my fenders i still arrived to work soaked, but i thought ahead and brought along dry clothes to slip into, so it was all good, and with it raining as hard as it was this morning, there was no other cyclists in sight, which i like, its like i have the whole streets to myself-

my pm ride to my second job turned which turned out to be closed, so i just rode around in san francisco for a while, nice clean streets, isn't supposed to rain for a couple days in a row so i'll get to ride more...

i don't know why people treat new year's day as though it's some sort of new beginning. i mean, holy ****, guess what. i totally rode my bike on august 8th. and then, the next day, august 9th, i rode the ****er again. oh, and yeah, i rode the 31st of december and on the 1st of january. holy moses!

Ha, you ******** imbecile, everyone knows that the entire world changes just because one number at the end of the date switches.

My ride was only nice cause it was my first ride on the new keirin frame. Took it from midtown to crooktown and then got lost as f*ck trying to get from prospect heights to greenpoint on purpose. Bikes a silent killer. No chain noise at all. Still needs to be broken in a little though.

Seeing that it was absolutely beautiful here in Cincinnati, considering it's the middle of winter, I had to put some good miles in before the weather turns sour. Plus, you gotta start the year off right with a solid ride or two. On Sunday, I put in 31.5 miles in on the fixed and on Monday, with a high of 65 or so, I rode another 32.4 miles.

It felt so nice to be able to ride in short sleeves again. But unfortunately, my hard-earned cyclist's tan has faded since the summer. If I get off work early enough tonight, I'll put in another 20.

I sent all my bikes to faraway lands, so I haven't ridden since December 16 (!!)... until today!

I got in to Mountain View at 2:00, swung by the hotel by my apartment wasn't read yet. I called up work, talked to the person I'd had my track bike shipped to. Drove straight away there, barged through the front door, marched purposefully to her desk pausing only to consult a map (hey, I've only been there once before), and dragged the box out to the car... Where it was too wide to fit in the back seat. Fortunately, the box was longer than the bike, so I just leaned on the door until it closed and prayed it didn't pop up on the way back.

The reggaeton was bumpin and I was feeling good as I smashed the nose end of the car on the street coming out of the driveway.

Then I got my key, went to my place to put my bike together, and discovered I was short a bolt for the crank I'd removed to fit it in the box. I located my nearest LBS and peeled out in the rental to get there rightquick (hey, look, there's a Performance just down the street, too!). Back to the place and the bike is put together.

As I'm rebuilding my bag from carry-on mode to bike mode, what do I come across but a certain missing crank bolt. Apparently I was too smart for my dumb ass.

Having eaten nothing for the last 12 hours but an orange and a corn muffin, I proceeded to roll out several miles getting the lay of the land, getting some dinner, and getting lost.

Awesome.

How long are you in the Bay Area? We should get the gang together for a ride.
Know how to get around CalTrain? http://www.caltrain.com

I'll be here for the next three months. Doing some bay area damage is on my agenda to be sure.

I've done CalTrain before visiting friends but never with my two-wheeled pottna in tow. I hear it's prett easy though. I also have a car (as mentioned) but the bike doesn't really fit very well (as mentioned). Now that I've got my **** settled, I sort of want to give the car back, but I figure I'll wait a week or so and make sure that's really how I'm feeling.
