I was the seller and some guy was the buyer for an item I sold on ebay a month and a bit ago. Sold on the 25th of November 2005. I know a buyer is supposed to have 60days to leave feedback, what happens if he/she dosn't?
I dont even know if he/she got the product! I emailed them a week later to confirm if they had recieved it and to please leave feedback (postage would have taked 2 - 3 days it was interstate). They didn't respond to email. Infact i have never seen such poor communication, it took them about a week and a bit to pay to my account and contact me.
Anyway original Q was wat happens if they dont leave feedback? Do they get sent a reminder email? Are they forced to? Or does eBay just leave it blank?
On ebay only feedback is posted if the person leaves it; there are no blanks allowed in the system. That said, people should leave feedback and an email to the buyer may be warrented as a "friendly reminder" of the feedback system.

- there's no requirement for leaving feedback...
- if ebay would accept some transaction responsibility, there'd be no need for the feedback mechanism at all... as it is, you're own your own - even at the expense of incorrect feedback (despite what ebay touts on its site)

Ahh ok, i'll just forget about him though. I AM tempted to leave negative for him or Neautral but wont unless he leaves me feedback first since i'm on 100% and dont want any negs.
I'll just forget about him them...lazy moron.
NOT leaving feedback is generally my reaction when i have a less than positive transaction. It is not wise to leave a negative feedback because of retaliation, so i figure the best i can do is leave none at all. Ebay's feedback system is entirely swayed in favor of the powerseller. If you make few transactions you can't afford a negative. It will wreck you.

Well i think by now, if they have not complained, the product ahs been recieved.
The feedback system is most certainly in favor of the power seller.
I left neutral feedback for a guy i got bearings from, a week later he leaves me negative. I did the mutual withdraw feedback though, so im okay.

Yeh I will just forget about him. Although you can follow up on feedback at least but your % is still reduced. How do you do mutual withdraw feedback?

Oh, theres a mutual feedback form you fill out. Check out the ebay Help section, and they will link you to it.

Question: Have YOU left him feedback on the transaction yet?
Question: Have YOU left him feedback on the transaction yet?
I hope he hasn't. It's not worht it when you know you're dealing with a slacker. Best to let it go. Easy for me to say with 1000+ feedback, 100% positive...
Why? Slacker or not, as a buyer he has fulfilled his obligation to the seller. Namely, they paid for it. The way we do it here (11100+ Positives) is when the customer pays, they get their feedback, the faster they pay the more glowing the feedback and why not, they deserve it.
Now, my job as a seller is to get it to them... promptly, accurately and intact. When I've done that I deserve my feedback.
I abhor the seller who holds my feedback 'hostage' until I post positive for them. That's complete bulls**t. If a seller is ballsy enough to stat that they hold feedback until it's left for them, I move on, quickly!

No i havn't left feedback and i dont intent to. The way we do it OVER HERE, is buyer pays, seller posts, when buyer has recieved item and is happy he/she will leave feedback, thus letting the seller know they have recieved the item. The seller is usually always the last one to leave feedback. This also promts the buyer to leave feedback if they want there's.
I agree that you should just forget about it. One recommendation isn't worth your time or trouble. It happens.
Stacey - in the case of a customer that may do something spiteful, I don't leave feedback first. Usually, there's good communication, and a follow up on my part to make sure the item has been received and is satisfactory. But if I think the buyer is going to try to work me over, I wait for them to leave feedback. I have so much that it's no longer a concern.
And what blue_neon described is exactly how it's done in Australia.
You Kiwi's are whack!
That's what I mean by holding feedback hostage. Outrageous!
Note to self: Remove Austrailasia from search list.

Same here.
I have recently been through a spate of selling on ebay and do just this. There are a handful of buyers who have bought from me and not left feedback and you know what, I just don't care. The only time you should take issue if is a buyer gives you negative feedback without giving you a chance to take care of the problem.
Think about it, are you in this to sell something and make money or are you in it for the feedback? Does it really make much of a difference if a buyer doesn't give feedback? Afterall, it doesn't affect your rating and very few people will look to audit your feedback against number of items sold. For those who take feedback hostage, bear in mind that if a buyer doesn't leave it, they probably don't care about it.
I AM tempted to leave negative for him or Neautral but wont unless he leaves me feedback first since i'm on 100% and dont want any negs.
Forget about leaving negative or even neutral feedback...you'd be starting an unecessary war. You were paid for the item, so you should be satisfied with the transaction. Post some nondescript positive feedback like "payment received, thanks for buying", and he will either follow up with positive feedback or nothing. If you post neutral or negative you may provoke him to do exactly what you fear...give you negative feedback.

How much feedback does the buyer have? By checking the buyer's feedback rating, you can see if he is leaving feedback for other sellers he may have dealt with recently.
What I usually do is leave positive feedback as long as the transaction went through, regardless of any delays in payment or emails. If the buyer sees that I left positive feedback for them, they'll usually return the favor.

Posting a negative feedback cause he didn't leave any yet?
No no no! Learn some manners son.
But you are correct, he's probably lazy. You can't expect too much from buyer's (customers), who knows, maybe this guy doesn't have a comp and was using a someone else's. You got your money and sent your product, you made a sale. If you buy someting from Kmart, you don't go home and fill out a feedback form.

I also leave feedback when the buyer pays, "Prompt payment, good buyer, blah, blah blah..." However we do check their rating first. If they seem to be prone to feedback issues, we wait.
I always leave feedback immediately as well. As soon as the buyer has paid me I feel that they have done their part so I leave feedback. I then send them an e-mail thanking them for their prompt payment and let them know that I have left them feedback. I also add that I would appreciate it if they would take a moment to leave me feedback once they receive the item. I receive feedback about 90% of the time. So far I have a feedback score of 211 with 100% positive.
I've only sold 15 - 20 items, 100% positive feedback.
I allow 3 days for inspection/return. I ship with confirmation numbers. Once the item is received, I ask the buyer for feedback. To me, positive feedback is agreement that the item was received, inspected and accepted, but I always leave positive feedback AFTER the return period expires.
MOST buyers are good about feedback, but musicians seem to be the least responsive. Dopers...

I prefer the feedback 'hostage' way. Oh did I mention that eBay Australia automatically sends out an email to the buyer once seller has marked payment received, saying that 'there product is coming'...what it also says it..."please leave feedback for me once you have received my item in satisfactory condition, i will THEN do the same for you" ;).
See, even eBay Oz agrees with me. It must be the 'Australian way'...

I've sold about 7 items, I give them 4 days business days to Pay, if they havn't paid OR made contact in 5 business days I send them a friendly reminder email....then if no contact ACTIVATE DISPUTE button is pressed ;).
