Many times in posts someone will write:

"It was 80 degrees here today" or something similar.

That is great, but it would be really nice to know where "here" is. At least the state, or better, city and state or city and country.

Go to "User Control Panel," click on "Edit Profile" on the left, and under "Additional Information," just fill in a city, state or whatever.

I gave my "shipping address" already. Most say my actual location is somewhere out in "LaLa Land".......well, at least my boss says that.

Due to the recent and continuing rain, my house is about 25 feet higher than in was a month ago.... but still in the same county

I also like to know from where the people are posting. So I have my location in my profile. Right now it is most definitely not 80'F. Half that and take away another 20'. My daughter and I are about to embark on another lake ride. Ice is the only flat riding we get.

Cold rain on the coastal plain of NJ. The weather didn't stop the lone bike commuter in our office from his 16 mile ride in this morning.

I live in Australia but have 1 week to go of 6 weeks stint in Baku, Azerbaijan (Houston on the Caspian). I have not seen a single bicycle in this city. The roads are pot holed, the footpaths have lots of missing manhole covers. The usual rules regarding pedestrians in lower quartile global GDP countries apply. That is pedestrian crossings are there only to relieve the monotony of black bitumen and do not confer any rights to those wishing to cross the road. Vehicles will not actively try to run you over but they certainly won’t slow down or avoid you. There are some unique local road rules though. Drivers will queue across intersections and thus cause grid lock. This habit necessitates the local constabulary to wade into the melee, blowing their whistles and belting the car roofs with their batons. In Baku, traffic lights are usually obeyed unless traffic is heavy. When this happens drivers feel that they have waited at the red lights for long enough and therefore it is their turn to go regardless of the state of the traffic signals. The car that has right of way is the one with the loudest horn. There is also some vehicular chest beating while stationary that involves revving your engine as loudly as possible to signify your car’s particular strength or the size of your penis. Sort of like lions or elephant seals strutting their stuff.

Such vehicular histrionics leads to some interesting sights during the peak hour walk back to my apartment. At least the grid locked roads mean that we, mere pedestrians, can cross the road with a certain amount of security.

I have not seen a single bicycle and only chanced on one skateboard being shared by 3 boys. I met an American who said that he goes MTB 'ing in the country side which is quite barren.
Lotsa scope here for introducing commuting to work on a bicycle if you lived long enough.
Seven sleeps and I will be onto my Trek road bike, fondly called Vlad the Impaler cause I fall off so regularly, for a long ride in the country on a quiet deserted road and breathe fresh clean air.

Aurora Colorado, just north of you DNvrFox. Got soaked riding today, but what a ride! 64F and continous warm rain. Just had to get back out on my bike after 3 weeks of inactivity (vacation with the inlaws). Turned 50 in January, so I am a Nube to the forum and recumbents. What a wealth of information in here.
