I saw Elton John in 1973, when I was 16.

I bet it was a great concert. Look at Elton, sorry Sir Elton now. It's hard to believe that he was ever cool. Picking up any of his early albums and scanning the tracks tells how talented the man was.

The first time I saw Elton was in the DC area at an outdoor concert. 1970 maybe. I knew nothing about him. Just some crazy frontliner who was absolutely manic on stage, played the piano and sang like no one I had ever experienced before. He was so good, I do not even remember who the main act was. What a showman.

Hall & Oates, 1985. How weak is that? Actually, they were good. General Public opened. They were better. My first show. Pretty cool. My girlfriend and I bogarted our way onto the floor and up to the front. I caught a drumstick. Woo hoo. My first show.

Unless you count the Oak Ridge Boys at the 1981 Natl Boy Scout Jamboree. I don't count it.

I bought tickets for Van Halen in 1983, but my über strict dad found out and wouldn't let me go. Ah, youth; so wasted on the young....

Summer holidays in I think 1975. Kiss with Cheap Trick supporting at the Stampede Corral in Calgary.
Kiss blew me away. I had no idea what live performance was all about, I've been hooked ever since.

Peter Gabriel in Pittsburgh.

That was going to be my first concert but I missed it.

MY first concert was the Rush 30th anniversery concert at the tweeter center on August 15th 2004. Fricken amazing concert.

It's funny the guy who took me who is one of my best friends, back when rush was on its presto tour I think he went to rush as his first concert too. Also the same guy was the one who got me into rush in the first place. So it had some meaning to it :)

I saw some local shows at the WOW hall in Eugene when I was pretty young, but the first major show I saw was KMFDM in Portland. Took the Greyhound bus up with my blue-haired friends to see it, what a great time.

Hey, this is a 1st concert thread, not a best concert thread. OK, maybe it's both.

My first concert was Tears For Fears in Radio City Music Hall. I got sat in the second to last row, and all the pot smoke rose up and gave me a contact buzz. Amazing. Went back the next month to see The Cure for the Head on the Door Tour, it was the famous performance where they got lost in the building trying to find their way back to the stage, and were found by the Janitor in some completely different part of the building. Can you imagine being the janitor? We of course didn't realize it at the time, but waited for like 40 min. for them to come back on stage. I would go to concerts for quite a while, and literally stand around waiting for the groups to come back on stage thinking that was normal.

Best concert is a toss up. Yo La Tengo, Wilco, Frank Black, Paul Simon (Graceland). Hard to Choose.

Um...much to my shame, Sonny and Cher. I made up for it in the next few years, though, with Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and The Doors. But still...

All in Australia....First live band was "Cold Chisel" before they became big, in a place called Bombay Rock. (very small venue)
The first big Concert was KISS but I can't remember the year. Seen them three times. Best concert I've seen was Prince, worst was either Michael Jackson or Machine Gun Fellatio. (I rate them about the same for entertainment)
I'd love to see KISS or AC DC here in Japan. Oh yehhhhh...

They were my first show the same year in Jacksonville, Florida. They were the headliner preceded by the Atlanta Rhythm Section and Three Dog Night. Metropolitan Park was the place. Been to several shows there.

...Aruba, Jamaica...

Cheesy crap.
