Fifty Plus (50+) - My bike is ready! My bike is ready!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Actually, it will be ready in about an hour, according to the LBS. This is my "new" 1980's Univega Viva Sport, converted to a singlespeed.
I'm torn -- if I go get it tonight, it will be dark by then. They open at 11 tomorrow morning, and I could go on my lunch hour in the daylight. I do want to ride it a bit near the shop just in case something's not right.
I can't decide.
Who am I kidding. I'll be over there at 5:15 asking for my bike. It's woohoo time! :D

You west coast people, always late to rise and late to bed. As you test the new wheels I'll be settling into a little TV before bed.

Gary, like, you know, a meteorite could come hurtling out of the heavens and take out your LBS and "her" too. G.W.B. could put a ban on all bike sales and delivery overnight while you sleep. Things could happen. Better get over to the LBS. Don't hang back shyly now.

Yes, I considered all that! But -- too late. A cooler head (where did that come from?) prevailed and I decided to tool over there tomorrow the moment they open, at 11 a.m. I had this image of me riding Lucky home in the dark, without so much as a rear view mirror let alone a headlight, and getting run over by a bus, or finding an unknown sewer grate, or whatever.
Hard as it is, I'm waiting until tomorrow. And man -- it's hard!

You're not fully assimilated yet. The LBS has all those items you need, like lights and mirrors. You don't want lights that have "touched" other bikes touching Lucky, now, do you?
Hey-I pick up my new Time Trial bike tomorrow as well! Will try and get some pics also.

DG, jppe.............a long sleepless, restless night for you. Pacing, pacing, staring at the clock, back to pacing.
Expectant fathers don't have it this bad.
:roflmao:
Instead of cigars, maybe you can pass out Clif bars.........and, of course, the "inevitable" pics. D*mn, now I want to go out and buy a bike.

Sounds as if this might just be an act of God!!!! G.W.B. should appoint a Blue Ribbon Panel to investigate why D.G.'s enthusiasim has sunk below the 110% point by leaving that poor converted road bike all alone at the LBS!!!!! I can just imagine Gary trying to make-up to sweet "Viva" tonight. She'll find herself parked next to the bed so he can reassure her that this will never happen again. Gary will be muttering in his sleep, "Yes dear, yes dear, I did lube your chain, I did pump up your tires, I did wipe down your frame...."

Today is the day. Of course it's only 6 a.m. out in Cali.
See DG . . . if you lived on the east coast, you'd be heading over to the LBS already!
My LBS opens in 20 mins!! Unless he stops and gets coffee........
Oh well, I can't get by there until 5 pm anyway.......

Okay, Steve, just for you! I posted this as a thumbnail in another thread, but now I'm trying to see if I can get it to show up in the body of the post. DnvrFox tells me I have to have the image on-line somewhere, and now I do. Here goes:

EDIT: Well, using the "insert Image" button (above) with an online image url didn't seem to work. What can i say? Steve, see my thread called something like Lucky's Maiden Voyage...
EDIT#2: Trying another way, using the "Insert Hyperlink" button instead:
Lucky (http://www.pbase.com/digitalgee/image/54427120)
EDIT #3: Nope, that just links you to the image on pbase. I give up!!!

Is this what you wanted to accomplish? This is linked to YOUR WEB SITE.

You forgot the .jpg at the end
(I had to remove a "]" from the "[IMG]" so the picture would not display from the syntax above).
Great looking bike!
Perhaps you ought to pedal in the opposite direction for a bit!

Ok, now we want pictures or jppe's new TT bike. Bob

Yep, that's it exactly! Thanks, DnvrFox! I wasn't aware that I had to add a .jpg to the link, but now I understand!
And if you think that's a great looking bike, you should see it with me on it! :D

I agree. Except, how did he get his drivetrain on the port (left) side of the bike?
 Does this mean he'll have to ride it against traffic? ;)

Gary,
I haven't been on the forum in quite a while (just needed a change, I guess. You know, winter and all) anyway, I see you finally took a mistress. I knew you would. Congrats!! Nice wheels.

Nice bike, DeeGee! Now I'm looking, too!

The folks in this shop (http://www.aabikes.net/) are fantastic. And less than a mile from home, so if necessary, I can ride a bike over for repair and walk home, or vice versa. This is their new website and it's not quite finished.

Welcome back, AJ! Um, could you just please keep this mistress thing kinda confidential? If my Trek finds out, she starts squeeking in all the wrong places and really messing up the ride. Thanks!

Oops, sorry. From now on I'll whisper when reffering to her. How do you do that when typing ? Use smaller type, I suppose. :D

Looks like a sweet ride, Gary! You'll have to let us know how you like the single speed aspect of it!
Congrats!
