Foo - How many on your ignore list?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So how many do you have on your ignore list. I have only three, I believe. I wish more people would use the ignore option instead of arguing with the same people over and over. Don't like 'em? Don't see 'em, ever again!
I have heard of this ignore feature, where might one fine it?

My ignore list is empty. Ignoring someone on a forum is kinds pointless because you still see their posts in quoted messages.
BTW, what's the buddy list?
I don't kno, but I just put you on mine. Let's see what happens. Mayhap, FTD will come around tommorow with flowers for you? :)

There's an ignore list now?
There always has been.
I used to have a few. But then realized, I am fully capable of ignoring those I don't like. I don't need a list to help me out haha
Hey Mael... How's the "Buddy List" thingy work? I put Perrigrine on mine last night and neither of us have recieved flowers yet. <pout>

Hey Mael... How's the "Buddy List" thingy work?
Buddy list has been around in vBulletin for years.
Basically, you select uses to be on your "buddy list" and you have a quick link to see who (among your buddies) is online when you are on. I didn't find it very useful....

Ya basically that. I didn't find it useful either.

And this link is where?
I haven't a clue...I'm not seeing it anywhere. Was just trying to find it, and found that at some point I must have added siu blue wind to my buddy list, but all I can find is where you can edit the list, but not where it shows whether they are online or not.
I used it in an older version of vBulletin on another forum a few years ago. IIRC if you clicked your user CP it showed all people on your buddy list in there somewhere and they were in bold if they were online or something like that. I don't see anything like that now.

The buddy list is right next to the ignore list. Go to your Control Panel. The "Buddy/ignore list" is the second to last option on your right.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about....but it only shows you "who" is on your list and let's you edit it. It doesn't show their online status....that's what it used to do.

Ok....I just added you Stacey to see if it would show you somewhere, but then I realized you weren't ONLINE anymore.
So I found another member who was online and added them. All I can see that it does is in the main list of users who are online (front page), it puts a little "+" next to their name. It doesn't bold it or anything else to "stand out"....so again, pretty useless.
When I used it in older version, as I mentioned, I thought it put a list on main page of your user CP and showed you with color or bold or something which in that list was online.
3, but they don't seem to be posting much any more....

I've been here all morning... Just running 'Invisible'. Not any more.
I added you and yeah, I see the little PLUS at your name. Tit's on a boar hog, eh?
So the ignore list does this just block out their post?? I never really understood the concept. It just seems kinda silly since this is the internet, but I could totally understand if you have someone who is stalking you.

Just that ke22kanaka nor whatever it is punk and all of his aliases.
I can tolerate utter asshats (I do post in SPF forums after all...) but ban-evaders annoy me to no end.
I have zero on mine mainly because it really screws up the flow of posts. There is only one member on here that irritates me anyway. Even if it weren't for the whole flow thing I still wouldn't ban him. His rambling is just way too entertaining. :D
None.
I haven't been able to ride much lately, so I need something to get my heart rate up!
Even some of the most annoying posters (to me) sometimes have something interesting to write. If we're here to get multiple points of view, why ignore the views we don't like?

I hate all of you. So you are all on my ignore list.
However, I love all of you. So you are all on my buddy list.
I think I might be tinkering with the very fiber of the time/space continuum...
People are running for their lives...
Dogs are loving cats...
Michael Bolton is back on the radio...
Is there no end to the madness?

LOL! as soon as the red-ness goes away and as soon as i can get the orange iodine stains off my belly.... sure
Mine is empty also. Why would I want to ignore all the wonderful and friendly folks who inhabit this forum? I come here to visit, not to ignore. That would be impolite. And I am never impolite. Gruff maybe. Occaisionally contrary and mean, but never impolite.
Edit note - Since I have never used it, can you un-ignore someone after they have stopped pissing you off?

Yes, just remove them from your list. All the ignore feature does is blocks out their post with a message like the following: "This user is on your ignore list. Click here to read this message."
Won't even display their name on most forum softwares.
edit: downside is you can still read replys to their messages...which is why in one thread I got all upset over everyone quoting one person in particular, since it was defeating the ignore feature.

Oh. So I can selectively switch folks on and off in the thread. Cool. I might have to give it a try just to see how it works.

I would hope that being a Moderator had something to do with it, too. I'd hate to think that a Mod was unavailable to help a member because the Mod has them on their Ignore list.
I did have one person on my list a while back, but took them off within a week. I found myself clicking on their posts to read them anyway. Like Maelstrom, I figured I could ignore them myself just as well.

Although I've been tempted, I don't have anoyone on the list. Which is not to say that I don't ignore some folks' posts....
