I had my eye on a Haro Backtrail x24, but I just found out about a Nyquist 24 that is about $70-80 more. The X24 is selling for around $300 in my area (Dallas/Ft. Worth). Do you think it would be worth the extra money to go for the Nyquist? I'm just looking to cruise around the neighborhood, maybe jump a few curbs, but I want something burly. Thanks in advance for any insight.

not if you want to just cruise around the nieghbourhood on it.
get a 20inch bike a backtrail or any other bike that is of about the same price a 24" are made for racing as far as i know so probably not the best idea or just cruising most brands have a pretty good bike in the $300 range that will conquer the streets and anyother stunts you want to do no worries
if your looking to just cruise around the neighborhood go with the less expensive one

Thanks all for the feedback. The r24 frame seems to be better built, but thanks to your advice I feel I can trust the X24. Not that it matters, but I think the 05 model will be the last for the r24 anyway.
Yeah, I'm going to get another 20". I've been looking for a good '86 Mongoose Californian to restore.
Last week I found out the Mongoose I'd had since I was 12 was taken to a iron salvage yard about a year ago. I had kept it in one of my grandad's barns for the past several years. He's been going downhill for a while, and got confused. He didn't have any idea who's it was or what it was doing there. I told him it was ok and all, but it hit me like a ton of bricks. A real kick to the crotch.
The x24 has a 3/8" axle while the r24 has 14mm. Is 14mm becoming the new standard?
Only for people that don't like bent axles.
Thanks Ex. The reason I ask is that you suggested the x24 with the 3/8", but on other threads I've heard you encourage the 14mm. The price isn't a big concern but I still want to get the most bang for my buck.
If you're not running pegs and doing grinds, there is no real reason to have 14mm axles.
What if you're a big boy that jumps?
It shouldn't be a problem, especially if this guy doesn't plan on jumping anything bigger than a curb.
I like not having to worry about these things.
When was the last time you saw someone snap a 3/8" axle when they weren't running pegs? It's not exactly a common occurence.
Thanks gents. I'm a solid 210 lbs. and like the peace of mind of the bigger axle. Who knows, once I get comfortable on it maybe I'll add some pegs and expand my bag of tricks.
