yeah, that's been popping up on this forum for a few weeks now. but for good reason. that guy is awesome. he did what a lot of us dream about doing.

no taps is what the sign meant -- there's a couple pics of him using a hand-pump water filter getting water out of puddles in the desert. Pretty hard-core if you ask me.

Go through some of the site.

You'll learn that he was able to find marked wells along the way, some of which were unusable.

we are all losers compared to that guy, thats all i can say. he takes the phrase "live free or die" to a new level.

This bloke's efforts are really amazing.

The canning stock route is famous in Australia as an epic trip, even with a fully loaded four wheel drive.

Not everyone knows what it is though- there are a few kiwis out there who think the canning stock route is an annual event. :-)

I was looking at biking the Tanami track from Alice Spring to Halls Creek. its a 1053 km track fo desert. but maybe not as any water along the way is classified as undrinkable...so who knows.

I think what he did was VERY impressive, but speak for yourself mcoine, I reckon my 20,000km across africa to date without gps and without a satellite phone mean I'm far from a loser compared to that guy!

He had the camera set up on a tripod (which you can see stowed on his bike in the shot from the top of the tower). Very impressive adventure - some neat links also (check out the clothing and the trailer)

In terms of extreme challenges I'd say crossing the Chang Tang plateau in Tibet by bike is more extreme that the Canning Stock route.

Its there's not much about it on his website yet, but here it is anyway:

The guy did it with his girlfriend. 46 days on the roadless Chang Tang, average altitude about 5,000m, no roads, no food, plenty of mud and icy rivers to cross.

They almost died doing it.

Yep, Corax is a legend in terms of Tibet extreme touring... Here is another guy with as good resume of achievements in Tibet:

About that Bike Trailer he had, I've never seen one...Has anyone used one? Are they pretty universal? Could they be used on Road bikes for long distance traveling?..
