Hello all,

Trying to find out more about a bianchi road bike from a long distance perspective. It is a model "limited" as far as I can determine. I have seen a number of posts here that seem to indicate that all the "limiteds" were made in Japan, and that none of them were celeste.
This bike is celeste in color and has the following decals and info:

Made in Italy, Eduardo Bianchi, (bottom of seatube)
Tubi Rinforzati, Formula Two, Crono Molibdeno, Produzione Columbo, Limited
Wheel clips are Shimano Close
Tires are Forte 700x23
Gear shifts are Shimano Light Action SLA 410
Brakes are Shimano M50/T
Handlebars are Nitto Universiade

So, is this an Italian made bike, or made in Japan with Italian frame materials?

Appreciate the help identifying this bike.

this is news to me - I was under the impression that Limiteds were made in Japan - they shouldn't have a Made in Italy sticker, or "B"s on the lugs and fork. Does the bike say Limited on the top tube or only on the material sticker? The description of the frame is of an Italian Bianchi, a Campione or a Trofeo...the parts are clearly from a Limited. Maybe you have a mix.

Thanks for the reply. this is all the info. I have to date. I spotted this in a long distance ad and have been trying to clarify what kind of bianchi it is via questions to the seller. I am unable to see the bike in person. I will see if I can get any history on the bike as well. Thanks again.

I have a Purple "Limited" frameset with made in Italy stickers and have B's cutouts also. Ditto the Formula Two Columbus tubing. Personally I do not care and actually prefer a Japanese manufacture for this time period and tubing/quality grade. I have a mechanic who has been turning wrenches since the 70's and he felt that it was probable that these frames were built in Japan and painted in Italy thereby allowing Bianchi to market as a Italian frameset. My bottom bracket reads BIANCHI G-6 211. I bought it because my wife does not care what color here bike is as long as it is purple.

I was under a mistaken impression that the Limited was not an Italian bike. The "made in italy" sticker was a big deal at the time - I don't think that Bianchi would have put that sticker on a bike that wasn't assembled in Italy (same with the Made in England stickers from the same vintage). I think that this was an attempt to resist the Japanese invasion, because the decals are all the same, regardless of manufacturer, implying that there must have been a larger trade organization regulating them. We have one here in Idaho - the Idaho Potato Grower's Association. No *****. They leverage all sorts of things out of individual growers and require special potato boxes, sacks, etc. to promote some State recognition.
