Firstly - HOLA!!

I am a total newb to BMX and am desperately searching for a cheap but decent bike.

I've seen a Haro Zippo on ebay for ultimate cheapness and I'm totally smitten by it. I've had a search on here and the few posts I can see regarding it make it sound like a rubbish bike. Botha kids bike and really old. :[]

The one I am thinking of getting is 4 years old and looks fantastic and is only £40.00 (so far)

Can I have some honest opinions please.

I'm 31 and 161 pounds with the mind of a 17 year old and the body to match :p

I had that bike when I started riding bmx when I was 13, split top tube and all. I bent the cranks badly, broke the seat post in two landing a gap and almost punctured my underside but other than that, the bike held up allright for the year I rode it, but at 31 you might be doing more than I was back then. I just rode around alot, tried bunnyhopping and learned feeble grinds on it. I dont know how much US dollars that is, but if it's about $50 it would be okay. I wouldnt spend $100 for it. It wil be okay, but you WILL need to upgrade eventually. You usually get what you pay for in bmx. Also, check what the shipping is, that might kill you after you've paid for the bike.

The rear slot is horizontal theres just a huge piece of unneeded metal hanging on the bottom there.

Maybe that's to protect the huge 17t freehweel?

16t, but, yes, that's the reason why it has large dropouts.

i got one. it is good once you start off but for anything more you will want a better bike.

and the dropouts are not like that on mine, so i dont know what is going on there.

Do you have the equivalant of a Target or wal-mart? Buy the cheapest bike you can find and trash it. It will be heavy but it wont break as easily as the haro you are looking at. If you dont like the flashy stickers it comes with, strip it and paint it with spray paint, doesnt take long if you put some thought into it. This is exactly how I got back into bmx at 33 & 170lbs. The bike was 60$us and its now my trampoline bike.

They're not his bars, the bike is on ebay..
And that bike is no doubt definately better quality than a target or wal-mart bike and it seems it will be cheaper.

I have a hard time believing that. Walmart bikes are complete crap, a haro is probably at least one big step up from those.
