Bicycle Mechanics - Campganolo Daytona RD - how to tell 2000 from 2001 model?

I recently inherited a Campagnolo Daytona short-cage rear derailler in nice condition. It's labeled "9-speed." Now, I know that Campy slightly changed the cable pull of their ergo shifters and rear deraillers between 2000 and 2001, and though the difference is small enough to not matter in practice most of the time, I'd like to know which year model this RD is. I don't have Campy shifters to test it on. And there is no model # on the derailler, as is usually the case with Shimano components. Are there any easy ways to tell? I've attached pictures in case there are any visual indicators. Thanks.

This 9s derailler has the same geometry as 10s deraillers. It will work interchangeably. I am not aware of geometries changing since 10s was introduced in 99.

IIRR there has been no change to Ergo internals/cable pull rates since 99 when the Ergo lever bodies changed to enable accomodation of the 10s ratchet mechanisms (physically larger) - and the rounded lever hood (vs the earlier pointy ones).

I may be mistaken, but I think that up to and including year 2000, the "model name" in this case DAYTONA, was dark type on the metallic field. This one looks like a 2001 or later with the "reverse type":
the dark field is inked and the type itself is metal showing through. Nice derailleur, I have two of them, one in triple.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll probably sell this one on eBay - it's in good shape, and I don't have use for a Campy derailler, even a beautiful one that's in good shape. Funny thing is, I'm in the market for a Shimano short-cage rear der right now, just b/c all my shifters are Shimano and I recently picked up an FSA Gossamer compact double.

On the difference in cable-pull between 2000 and 2001, there is a change but it's pretty small. Here's what Sheldon Brown had to say about it on his website:

Campagnolo made a very slight change in their indexing in 2001. Supposedly you need to use 2001 or later shifters with 2001 or later rear derailers, but the difference is so small that it doesn't matter in practice.

Some people have no trouble some do. I was using an early 8/9 speed on a bike and it just wouldn't shift with current 9 shifters. It couldn't make the last 3 gears on the cassette. There really is a difference. When I swapped out for a current 9 speed, flawless shifting all the time.
