Im having some issues with my cranks or hubs poppin. They only seem to do it when my cranks are 90* to the chain stay. I just took out the bearing and cleaned and re-packed them. I put in a new axle becuase the old one had flat spots in it. Can neone help??

Pops and clicks and squeaks and crunchy sounds can be a ***** to isolate and fix, especially if we're talking unsealed BB, hubs and pedals. Without being able to ride the bike myself, I'd say you're kind of on your own diagnosing it. Just start going through the usual suspects...grab and wiggle pedals, see if they have any play in the spindles, grab and wiggle crank arms to make sure they're adjusted properly, check rear hub, check interface between crank arm and sprocket, etc.

aBOUT 30 MINTUES ago I completely disassembled the rear hub and cleaned and greased bearing, adn put in a newer axle. So it shouldnt be that. Ive also recently had a prob with throwing chains. I dobnt think its the pedals but I could check it.

If "throwing chains" means that your chain is breaking or falling off, your sprocket is probably bent.

Do you have a cassete? If its an interchangeable cog then is the lock ring on backwards?

No, it's an older Redline hub, its well maintained however. Its not throwing chains nemore. Its just the feeling of everytime I get to halfway point in the crank it pops, and I feel like Im gonna go over the handlebars again. Ive already messed up my knee once this week. Should I just go ahead and buy new cranks and/or hubs??

Make sure the chainring is on and seated properly. Does your chain tension vary a lot with each revolution?

Not very much. Maybe about 1/8". The guy up at the shop just kept irritating me. He said that my chainring and sprocket were lined up good. He never did tell me cause he said he couldnt tear into it. Im beginning to think it may be my cranks. Or should I borrow a friends rear rim, and try it out?? I really need some help with this Im going riding Sunday, and I really dont want to screw up.

if you have an old freewheel its the freewheel. try getting a new freewheel.

you never actually said what your problem is....
is it makeing noises?
is it throwing the chain?
is it makeing uneven tension?
is it hitting the frame?

whats the problem and what kind of cranks and bottom bracket do you have
