What's the spec on the Flair? Or do I have to go look it up on my own?

Ok, I checked the website. The Flair seems ok to me, except for the fork/front wheel combo. They may have saved a bit of weight there, but sloppy kids are going to bend that axle quickly. Other than that, it seems ok.

Can't go wrong for $160. Unless it's stolen, or someone is trying to rip you off. It's got a lot of good spec, good frame design too. The only weak point is the fork/axle combo. Oh, and the poo colour. But you can get it in black, if I recall correctly. The brown is just too poo.

That's approaching the cost of a new one.

but those are pretty much top-notch upgrades.

if i were you i wouldnt go below 13-36 gearing beacause your chain will rub on your brakes...which means you dont have to buy the cassettes. You could buy the ody. rims with the f/w hub and buy a 13t freewheel if you want to save some cash. Thats what i run(the freewheel) and it fine.
