I know there are a bunch of posts here already about the Poprads, but I have a unique situation where I have the opportunity to buy a used 2001 Poprad. It has bar end shifters and is sort of an older design. It has about 800 miles on it. How much do you think I should offer this person and what do you think is reasonable?
Much thanks!

Is the frame in good shape or trashed?
What does it have for components?

I'm guessing whatever the stock components are. I couldn't really find much information on the web and the current owner isn't too sure himself. He says its in good shape.
hey jay where on the south shore are you?

I would offer 250 but no higher than 300, but ask for a test ride first that way you can get a feel for the bike and take a real hard look at it's condition. A new poprad is about 1200. If the seller can't tell you what components are on it, I would be very hesistant about buying. Look at it and ride it around the block a few times before making an offer and keep the offer low.

Isn't that 853 steel? I just purchased a '01 Lemond BA--seller used it about 3-times--with 105 components and original 25c tires for my new "beater" for $600. Seemed like a good deal to me. MSRP was about $1.5K and some probably got them for as low as $1,200 or less at the time. It has a quill stem. If the Proprad does too, depending on the fit, you may have to shop around via the internet. :)

yeah, I delcined his offer. I think I'm going to just build something up on my own gradually. I have a lot of loose parts.
