how do I size a cross frame? I have a 56 cm road bike which feels a bit small for me. I was thinking of getting a 56cm cross frame. thanks
chris
Hi Chris, welcome to the forums :D
They recommend that you go for a couple of centimetres smaller than a road size frame...hence if you ride a 56cm, then go for a 54cm.
But if you find the 56cm road frame too small, it would be worthwhile considering a 56cm framed cross bike. As with all things, try several sizes if possible to see which fits you, and go for that.
I used to ride a 58cm cross frame and I'm 6ft...fitted like a glove :)

I agree with Rich. Other thing to consider is geometry. Everybody builds their Cross frames differently, so you'll need to ask the right questions.....
Top Tube Length vs Seat Tube Length
Bottom Bracket Height
Is the frame Center to Center, or Center to top?
Are you racing or gonna use as a commuter?
Each bike feels and rides differently, even if they are the same size.

sorry I took so long to reply.
I'll be using this bike for just about everything.
I bought a 54 cm which had specs very close to my road bike.
I got an airborne carpe diem. and with all the mud clearance and braze ons I can race road, cross and mtb by varying my tire selection. This frame would also be perfect for some touring.
thanks for you help
