I have managed with jeans and jumpers up till now, but the Christmas Fairy has treated me to some real cycle clothes. Yay! My concern is that I don't know what order to put on the following items...

Long Sleeve base layer top (Helly Hansen Prowool LS Top)
Bib long legs (Endura Thermostat Clip Bib Longs)
Long Sleeve Jersey (Endura MT 500 LS Jersey 06)

I've worked out the obvious stuff, such as undershorts etc  but does it go Bib Long, Base Top, Jersey... or is it Base Top, Bib Long, Jersey? I don't want to look a total prat!!

Thanks!

Base, Bib, Jersey is what I normally do. I wear underarmour for a base, so it fits pretty tight on the torso. If I wear a looser fitting base (not often) then its Bibs, Base, Jersey

Thanks - this base layer is tight, so I'll put it on first.

For me...silk failed to breath well in 80-90F weather....but has anyone have experience with silk as a base layer for strenious(sp?) or fast paced riding?

Silk seems to work well as a x-c ski base layer, but I can't imagine using it for summer stuff. My latest base layer is a hyperthin silk-cashmere mix which I retired from its normal duty as a work sweater after a few moths took too much of a liking to it over the summer. It's almost too warm to be honest.

The underarmour worked well untill there was a heavy climb....froze on the descents.

It works well when it lays flat on the skin. For a women's shape, err, no wicking occurred over the cleavage. (sorry gents). The water runs right down to the waist.
