Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I find better deals on Craigslist, to be honest. I just posted, for example, a 1980s vintage Panasonic touring bike that I saw on Seattle Craigslist for $15. I just missed TWO Motobecane "touring" bikes on Seattle Craigslist for $35 TOTAL. :(
These kind of deals come from people who are cleaning out their garage. I also see ridiculously over-inflated prices on Craigslist, so it all depends on the seller. Some people think every turd they're selling is a diamond. Some people think they can lie through their teeth until they find an unwitting buyer. Example: All of the "chromoly" bikes out there that are, in fact, gaspipe, and not "chromoly." You have to do your research. Some people have learned to strip a bike and sell the frameset for an inflated price as a "fixie" conversion.
On Ebay, on the other hand, I see many more idiots selling gaspipe bikes like they're made out of unobtanium. Example:
"Rare" Gitane Grand Sport Deluxe (http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Vintage-Gitane-Gran-Sport-De-Luxe-Tourer_W0QQitemZ7209965455QQcategoryZ98084QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
