I am looking to complete my winter wardrobe with a windproof jacket. Any suggestions on brand and where to get the jacket. Thanks.

The Showers Pass Jacket is paper thin (but very waterproof and windproof). You'll need to go with at least 2-3 layers underneath to stay warm.

Target has a windbreaker with a zip off hood for about $25. I've used it down to 0F.

Personally, that is what I want in an outer shell - lightweight, thin, but wind and water resistant (or proof) with adjustable ventilation. The shell is a constant, while your layers can be adjusted for temperature.

I just scored a pretty high end sierra designs jacket from a local thrift store - brand new with tags - for 23 dollars. I also picked up a North Face summit series XCR goretex bibs, new with tags, for 15 dollars..... not bad if I say so myself LOL.

I bought a Landsend Marimac jacket for $39.95 last month. It is windproof and breathable. I use it for cycling, as well as casual wear. It works great.

MEC in Canada has a supermicrofit bicycling windbreaker made by Canooks for $65CAN, m/l $55USD at todays exchange rate. Classic bicycling windbreaker, not waterproof. Long tail, pit zips, thumb loops, back pocket, lots of flecco striping.

I saw a Prospirit jacket, but it was made of a fleece. Is yours nylon or fleece. I was thinking I would have to get something made of nylon. Maybe I was wrong in this assumption. If so, I have several pieces of clothing made of fleece already. I have a fleece Columbia jacket. I have a Patagonia fleece and several other things of fleece. Can these be used to replace a windbreaker? If not, I am thinking of going with the jacket Chipcom suggested. Thanks again, guys.

My jacket is nylon with a mesh poly liner. Not particularly high tech, but it works for me for this winter. Considering that its now the dead of winter, they may not have it on the shelf right now.

I bought one of these jackets at Target. I bought it a little large to layer under. It is my windbreaker jacket when it is above about 40 degrees.
