General Cycling Discussion - Selle Italia Flite Genuine Gel Saddle

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I know it's a personal preference, but I'm just curious. Does anyone have a Selle Italia Flite Genuine Gel Saddle that could comment on how you like it (any women?)?
I have a regular flite, and I like it, but I'm looking for something a little more cushy for longer distances on my road bike (the regular flite is on my track bike).
Please, only comments on the flites.
Thanks!

Well, I'm not a woman but I do have a Selle Italia Flite Genuine Gel on both my MTB and RB. I know they have a lady's version though.

My MTB came stock with the regular Flite and I liked the profile but felt it was just a little harsh for "epic rides". I switched to the Genuine Gel version and have never been happier. When I spec'ed my RB, I picked the Flite Genuine Gel for it too. I like the stitching because it makes me feel a little bit more connected to the saddle (some people find the stitching annoying though). I like that there's just the right amount of gel in the right places. I once had a full gel seat back when gel was so in-fashion that everything had gel and hated it.
I would recommend you see if you can get your LBS to let you try the saddle out for a day or at least a quick 20-mile ride and then decide. I'm actually interested in trying out the Selle Italia ProLink Genuine Gel saddle (I like to try new things) and will be doing exactly that.

Velo,
I have a Selle Italia Flite Genuine Gel. As you know I'm not a racer, but I do my daily 22+ mile rt commuting on it as well as several weekend rides of 50-75 miles and found it quite comfortable. Since I have not ridden a regular Flite I can't compare the two. The FGG seems to provide good firm support where you want it with just a touch of cush in the right places. In the interest of full disclosure the longer rides of 65-75 miles did cause a small amount of discomfort, but I am sure that was from my own lack of mileage at the time, not from the saddle.
Hope this helps.
Raymond
I have the Flite, Flite Genuine Gel, SLR and TT.
The Genuine Gel is a bit thicker in padding on the nose down to the center (the perforated, stitched spot). From there back, it is about the same cushioning as the Flite.
It is comfortable.
I like the Genuine Gel, it's a good saddle. The TT is uncomfortable and the suede stains your shorts and the saddle looks like junk after a few rides.
SLR is really a good saddle. Comfortable as the Flite or Gel. I think for heavier riders, the SLR flexes too much under weight so they don't get the cushioning effect.
I use the Gel for a long time, but switched back to the Flite because they felt the same and the Flite was lighter. Maybe I'll stick the Gel back on to see how it feels again!
Anyway, if you like Selle Italia, the only one I won't recommend is the TT.
