I have no idea what the issue actually is of course, but other forums I have been a member of have taken multiple steps to decrease load time that I think do NOTHING to hurt the forum experience:

1. Eliminate the "Who Is Online" list display.

2. Remove Images from Signatures. Regretably, I have to turn off signatures, because I find images in signatures a huge annoyance as well as a performance problem. This means I sometimes miss some actual interesting signature fodder, of course. Text-based sigs I think are a good compromise.

3. Eliminate Attachments. If one wants to post an image or something they must use their own web space or their own web space or a free hosting solution. I could see how this change would be an inconvenience for many, though.

There has to be a problem. The past two or three days it has been really slow. In fact this is the second time I posted to this thread. The first time it sat for a while then went to "Cannot Find Server" when I hit "Submit".

+ 1 Strange that so few have commented on this. Made me think it was just me for awhile. I must be severely addicted to these forums because if I were anywhere else, i would have said the hell with it. :(

I have begun counting, to see how many push-ups I can do while waiting for a page to load. My average is, like 25-30. By the time this situation is resolved, I will have arms the size of Vin Deisel. j/k ;)

Server is choking 'tho.

I think this is now fixed, the server was hanging up while running stats. I could manualy kill the process, but it would come back 15 min later. I think i fixed it for good this time around.

<-- crossing fingers.
