Touring - North Sea Cycle Route

Has anyone here done any of the North Sea Cycle Route? On the website http://www.northsea-cycle.com/index1.html they claim it is the world's longest signed international cycle route. I have an acquaintance who cycled the Danish part and liked it a lot. He said it was mostly on path but I gather from the website that most other sections are on road.

Would love to hear any experiences of people on this forum.

I've heard that the Dutch section is excellent but the only bit I've experienced first hand is a bit in East Anglia (England) which was terrible - all chicane barriers and raised kerbs (but admittedly it avoided roads entirely). Our local authorities who plan these routes have some odd ideas about cycling.

The East Anglian bit can be made-up as you go along using the dense network of country lanes. The real benefit of the route is in using local knowledge to get you into and out of the larger towns and cities, avoiding major highways.

The Dutch part is good, but there are so many signed and marked cycle routes in the Netherlands
that it is hard to choose.

I was planning to do the Norwegian section last summer, but most people said I should go North to the Arctic circle and the Lofotens, so I did that instead.

It sounds like a good project to do the North Sea Route over two or three vacations, the British side one year, the Continental side the next - something like that.

I'm planning on doing an East Anglia trip in the spring of 2007, I might just try to extend it or possibly start on the continent.
