What do you all eat in a typical day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? what about snacks?

Breakfast: Protien shake with fruits
Lunch: Sandwich
Snack: Tons of Cold Oranges (Hmmm...)
Dinner: Sandwich with a salad.
After Workout: Another Protien Shake

breakfast - Protein shake with granola bar OR eggs and hashbrowns
Lunch - (can be anything as it is served through work)
snack - (fruit)
Dinner - (once again anything but usually between 500 and 750 calories - chicken, beef or fish for SURE)
snack - (fruit OR protein shake)

When in peak condition or being a gym rat I throw in an extra meal in between break and lunch. I ALWAYS consume 30 to 50g protein per meal if not more.

I avoid break, and most carbs except for essential carbs for athletics.

I eat pretty much the same:
Breakfast: Protien Shake and 3 or 4 Wheet Bix
Morning Tea: Protien Shake
Lunch: Chicken and Vegies
Post Workout: Protien Shake
Dinner: Lean Meat and Vegies

I try to aviod any processed foods like bread and pasta and anything starchy. I prefer to get my carbs from fresh vegies.

Do you still contine on the protien meals even if you didnt work out for a day or 2?

Maelstrom

Protein shakes are a staple in my diet. I was even using them when I wasn't working out at all.

My friends keep telling me that if i dont work out, im gonna gain more weight from the protien. While my work out buddies say other wise. What do you all think?

Segrott

Your body uses more calories to digest a gram of protein rather than a gram of carbs, even more if it is solid food (chicken, tuna), but make sure that you keep your proportions even, eg 40% carbs, 40% protien and 20% fat (good fats). Protein is essential especially after a hard work out on the bike or in the gym to help your muscles recover and rebuild.

I'll agree with serg. Protein is the best thing to eat as long as your calories are ok.

Also make sure you aren't referring to a weight gainer. There is a MASSIVE different between a weight gainer and a protein shake.

Segrott
10-23-02, 11:48 PM
Your right, there is a massive difference in Weight Gainers and "Protein" shakes. Weight Gainers have enourmous amounts of carbs and calories. I use a whey protein with a small amount of carbs (8-10g) per serving that also has 3g of glutamine. The glutamine really helps with my recovery and reduces the sorness after a hard workout.

I think I may need to change my diet up a little bit. I bonk easily. I'm a poor college student though so sandwiches are cheap. I also notice that I go through peanut butter very quickly. :D

Gosh you all are a healthy bunch. I've reached the age where the benefits of good eating are more than counter balanced by the first 30 years of bad eating so my motivation to change is low. Breakfast: 2 or 3 cups of coffee, a multivitamin, 400 U vitamin E, 400 U Folic Acid, 750 mg Glucosamine, 600 mg Chondroitin Sulfate, 500 mg MSM. Lunch: peanut butter on whole wheat bread, maybe a pepper or carrot, maybe an apple, 500 mg calcium supplement. Evening browsing period: bean soup, bread of some kind, some vegetable (kale is my favorite), a bowl of oatmeal, a yogurt, and just before bed a cup of coco in the winter.
Week-ends some pop-corn will fit in there someplace.

If I don't eat properly I will end up a fat bastard (said in the austin powers way). I have a pretty serious disposition to easy weight gain so I have to be careful.

Hey Scooby...you really like coffee eh?

Suprisingly, I do. I'm at the point where coffee does not affect my sleep patterns at all. And I drink it nice and strong 4-5x day thereabouts. Only think that does wake me up is when I sometimes go hypoglycaemic (blood glucose crash) and I start shaking and muttering. My wife knows what to do and sometimes at 3am or whenever, I'll sit and watch the late night news with a cup of very sweet coffee and some bikkies.

I don't drink coffee that often but love the taste. yesterday I drank a pot (10 cups)

i had a hard time breathing because of a tightness in my chest and my heart felt like it was going to explode..

other than that I slept very soundly :)

Lately, Omelet or oatmeal in the morning.
Afternoon snack on trail mix, fruit, candy bars, chips, and/or sandwitch
Dinner rehydrated or bought at a cafe or chefing it up if I'm lucky enough to be indoors. Cook soups, cookies, other savory dishes.

There hardly is a typical for me these past couple months.

Peace

"Toad in the Hole"

A good old English recipe

Well first of all you must catch a toad, one of those ugly frog like aquatic creatures.
Hunting for them by night is the best time, as they are mostly nocturnal.......................

Sorry Alex i could not resist that .

To be serious! Toad in the hole is rather nice .

The "Toad" usually is Pork sausage I like Cumberland or Lincolnshire, which i like to pre-cook.
The "hole" is a batter known in u.k. as Yorkshire pudding.

The batter is poured over the sausages in a baking tray then cooked until it rises all puffy and golden
MMMMMMM Delicious!!!

Type the name into Google and it will find recipes for you.
