Mountain Biking - question on bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
havent been around here in awhile guys. But yesterday while I was riding my crankset stopped rotating. It looked like it was moving all crooked while I was riding then it just stopped rotating. Recently me and my buddy had a 3 hour ride mud riding and our bikes were caked in mud, I have a feeling this has something to do with my bike not working. The front derailler isn't working properly and the brakes aren't either. My question is what you guys think I should do about this? Do you think my crankset needs to be replaced? Should I bring it to a bike shop to be looked at?
