Mountain Biking - Finally taking bike in for repair

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Taking my Mountain bike in tommorow to replace some things. I am replacing the BB bearing and there are a few different one's to choose from. I can go with the Shimano which I think is standard on my bike, or with something that is higher class. I also havent done anything with the front hub [ WHEEL ] so there's still some roughness coming from it. I guess I have to replace the whole wheel because I cant replace the Hub on my Alex rims, well this is what I was told anyway. I want to know what bearing to get, and what I should do about the Hub.
Anyhelp is good
Thanks
? Still never got it in. I think it will be going in, in the morning.
When you say bb bearing your talking about the whole bottom bracket right? why are you replacing it, is something wrong with it?
Do you have to replace the whole thing? I called the local shop and all they said is they have the bearing in stock. They have the basic shimano and better. I guess that means the whole thing?
Aren't bbs sealed? I would think(I have limited knowledge) that you replace the entire thing. I don't see why you care about having a "higher end" bb. Its not that important, all I can think of is a weight savings, just make sure you get the correct size and one that will work with your crank.

Ya, i also thought, that most mtn bikes these days have the cartridge style BB's. If you have to replace the BB, I wouldn't think that there would that many choices cause the BB would have to be compatible w/ your cranks.
What exactly is wrong w/ your hub? Have you tried just taking it all apart, getting new ball bearings and re packing it?
No, I am just going to take it in. Its obvious that I dont know enough about what is wrong with the bike. I was told that there was some roughness with the front Hub and that it was irreplaceable, meaning I would have to get a new wheel with the hub. I would think that that the BB is a sealed unit. Does $21 CND sound to cheap for a BB replacement. Oh yeah I really dont know that is wrong thats why I am taking it to the shop. I do know that there's roughness when pedding that appears to be coming from the BB area. I have checked over the bike really good and the roughness isnt coming from the chain and gears so I could only hope its the BB.

Funny thing is, I just had a similar problem just 2 days ago. My crankset went crooked and is spinning barely with alot of resistance. I took it in and the bb needed to be replaced. Just take it in and ask for their help in finding the correct bb.

Pull the bearings in the hub and inspect the races, take a ball to the lbs, buy new (count) replace with new balls and repack with bearing grease.
