Whack a 1/2 inch off each end, and see how that works for you. If you need to cut more off, cut more off. But do it a bit at a time.

Clamp the part of the bars that you want to discard, then cut away.
Some people recommend a saw guide.. but they can't cut straight.

Oh yeah.. my bars are down to 23.5" wide. They feel great, but I had a hell of a time making the brake lever fit.

Pipe cutters are by farthe best way to go. They're quick and easy, they cut straight even when you're drunk, and it's damn near impossible to chop off fingers with them.

A pipe cutter is probably under US$20 in the states. Not the best choice for cro-mo though.

Australia is expensive. That's one of the many reasons I'm leaving.

Unfortuanlty (Spelling) for me I can't cut my handlebars because they are carbon fiber, atleats I don't think I can, I'm sure somone in my shop knows how. It's a bummer because my handlebars are really wide and they feel weird...
