Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Seeya bashguard! For now that is.

Ok when I start going through the woods ill put it back on.

So whats a good company/model that makes super strong mountain chainrings?

I need a 104bcd one.

I thought about FSA-Downhill CR. Seems alright.

I also sort of know about blackspire...(if theyre any good)

Any others for a MTB? Thanks

I've been using E.13 rings on my bikes. They are crazy light and last forever. Made out of 7000 series aluminum.

The Blackspire ring that came on my Demo 8 was heavier than the E.13 I replaced it with.

I vote for Race Face. Ramped, pinned, and the best shifting rings I've ever had.

for a while i rode the 32T raceface that came with my crank, good ring, then i got my FSA billet DH 36T chainring and i love it, i don;t even notice it and that's how it should be, no problems at all, how big are you looking for? I have the stock, i think 42T, from my crankset.

When I was slapping together my SS, the ring I got from my LBS was from Rocket Rings. It's worked out fine so far and was pretty cheap. No ramps or pins, though. Definitely a SS-only item.

The boone Ti rings look great, but are they ramped. Chainrings are useless if they do not shift properly. If anyone has experience with these, can you tell me how they feel/ride

It can better than a blackspire can. Can your bash ring survive an urban session without getting bent?

Been running E.13 components from when they were founded and am only on my 2nd bash ring in 5 years.

As far as I know, you can ask for them to be made with shifting ramps. Unfortunately, I have no personal experience with Boone chainrings; they're on my "wish list of expensive cycling goodies" right after some King hubs :p.
