Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Stolen Rims from Building

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am posting this in hopes of retrieving my stolen rims.
I won a brand new pair of Mavis CXP30 32 hold rims off of EBAY. I have been looking for these rims for about a year now and i was very happy to finally find a NOS pair. I missed the package when it was delivered, so I signed the notice allowing it to be left in the lobby. The package was taken from my lobby. I am so pissed. I have been waiting for these rims. I called the building manager and it turns out that packages have been getting stolen from the building on the regular. I am so bummed. If you see these rims out there PLEASE get in touch with me. They are rare rims and brand new so they will not be hard to spot.
Thanks - Benny
Oh yeah - this is in San Francisco. I already called some bike shops to be on the lookout also. SO LAME!
whoosh!

i bet some dude just built the worlds largest crack cocaine freebaser outta them suckers.
In the meantime, they should pull their security tapes if they have any. And I'd start filing a claim against the building manager. They knew their lobby was a high theft area, yet they told no one, and consequently, your rims were stolen.
I'd be asking the manager for their insurance company info so you can file a claim to at least get the money back.
Good luck on finding your rims.

In the future, if you can, have the item shipped to work, or to a freinds work, or even to a bike shop you are freindly with. I would have no problem with a regular shipping something to my shop.

Good guy, bad guy, devil incarnate... who cares? This isn't about someone being good or bad- they have insurance, your tires got stolen, so you file a claim with their insurance company. Just make sure you have the receipts and be ready to duke it out with insurance companies. They will nearly always turn you down for some ridiculous reason or another. Most people walk away, but if you fight it, you'll have a better chance of getting reimbursed.
Shoot, I'd do the same if it was my mother who owned the building. Shoot, she'd give me the claim forms for insurance and encourage me to pursue it through the insurance company. You have to get your money back somehow. What, are you rich?

I say you should send Koffee to kick their ass. They would probably reimburse you real quick-like and in a hurry. :D

most UPS dudes won't leave **** if it has been a high left area, even if you sign for it. i used to live on shady deluxe 8th avenue near campus in columbus OH. they wouldn't leave **** so i'd have to go out to the UPS depot to pick up stuff at 9:30 at night.
if the package was insured (and stuff is when it goes UPS), you should have recourse.

By signing the slip and giving them permission to leave, you're absolving UPS of all responsibility, so that avenue has been closed.
My guess is those rims found their way into a nearby dumpster/trash barrel. I'd go look around your neighborhood. Whatever person stole them was probably hoping for something he could pawn off/maybe use, and a pair of unlaced bicycle rims don't fall into either of those categorys for most people.
