My pedal configuration (aka "tread") is too narrow, causing my toes to point in when I'm clipped in, leading to painful knees after each ride. Any suggestions on how to widen the tread on my bike? Is adding a thicker washer between the pedals and the crankarms a dangeours thing? (I'm riding Eggbeater C pedals connected to Raceface Evolve XC cranks and BB). Thanks!

Pedal extenders exist. They screw into the pedal thread in the crank and the outboard side is threaded for the pedal and moves it out 1/2" or so. Assuming you aren't a heavy torquer it should do ok. Speedplay makes pedals with longer axles. Don't know about Crank Brothers though. Sure you have the cleats and shoes oriented/mounted correctly? Seems a bit much to blame it all on crank angles.
