I don't see how American Pie beat Blazing Saddles and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles...

Good to see that anyone remembers #10. It was an underappreciated classic, in my opinion.

Well its another one of those small polls. Probably with about 30,000 people voting. American Pie was funny but I don't think Its funny enough to reach top 10 comedys of all time.

Life of Brian is pretty weak when compared to The Meaning of Life and Holy Grail. Still funny, but weak in comparison.

I agree.

Something about Mary was great too. I always thought the dog scene and the zipper scene were funnier than the famous 'mousse' scene. Then again, I couldn't breath I was laughing so much at the 'Team America World Police' sex scene, so maybe my opinion should be ignored :D

A decent list. I loved "The Life of Brian", but "The Meaning of Life" was the funniest of the three Monty Python movies IMO and isn't in the list. :(

American Pie I've never even seen....always looked like a stupid teen comedy type movie to me.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles would always be in my top comedy movie list as well. Glad to see Mel Brooks best movie, Blazing Saddles in there as well.

I got mixed up with Life of Brian and The Meaning Of Life. I do agree, meaning of life was funnyier.

Dr Stranglelove is one of my favorites that did not make the list.

Never seen Withnail and I.

Personally, I think Life of Brian is Monty Python's best movie as it doesn't have the lulls that their other movies do.

Withnail and I is a Brit thing. I've seen it but I didn't think it was that funny, though it does have it's moments and the Brits are fond of quoting lines from it.

I'd probably have 'This is Spinal Tap' in there as well.

I've never seen American Pie, but would generally feel that most of these movies are worth watching and Groundhog Day is one of my favourite movies.

That list is completely lame. Groundhog Day over Stripes or Ghostbusters? Where's Spinal Tap? Dr. Strangelove? All the early Woody Allen movies? Young Frankenstein?

Too bad its so new....I would love to have seen "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" in the list. It would be in MY list.

Groundhog Day is great but how about Dumb and Dumber, and Vacation . . . ?

Plenty of funny movies on that list, I like most of them. However, the one movie that almost kills me, that absolutely chokes me with laughing, is Undercover Brother. Not a popular choice, I'm sure, but I'm sticking with it...

I love all the Monty Python movies, and the Airplane movies.

What about Time Bandits - one of my all-time favorites!

Thats simple rubbish. The funniest movie of all time is by far Platoon.

The original version of "The Producers" is a classic. "The Life of Brian" is by far the best Python...it actually has a story line to go with the skits. The Monsieur Hulot movies by Jacques Tati are charming and amusing, although no gut busters.

I agree 100% with you on this. The Mr. Creosote scene probably killed any chance it had of making a best of list. Not to mention the scathing but really funny poke at the Catholic Church.

The poll was actually the top 100, I saw it on TV. IIRC, Spinal Tap (which would have been my first choice too) was just outside the top 10, and Time Bandits was in there somewhere, about 25? Don't remember where Meaning of Life came.

Contrary to a lot of posts here, I think Life of Brian is easily up there with Holy Grail as the funniest.

"Withnail & I"? Never heard of it. I'll have to check it out.

"American Pie" was funny? I think I laughed twice

I'm glad to see "Groundhog Day" and "Planes, Trains and Automobiles". Underappreciated classics.

I was watching some of their flying circus material on PBS last night, and I don't think that Monty Python was all that funny typically, but I have a hard time thinking of anything funnier than the meaning of life, the one exception probably being Conan Obrien's tenth aniversary special.

And Brillig, I must agree with you about American Pie. Those are some of the worst "comedy" movies ever made.
