Touring - Gerona, Spain

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I know a number of pros train in this area. Is it a good place for touring? Are the roads in good shape and are they wide enough to accomodate cyclists? Are there any especially good routes?

I've been there last summer: look at the respective pictures of my spanish cycling tour (http://people.freenet.de/spanienradtour/index_englisch.html) . The roads are as you can see it on the Besalu (next to last) picture (mountain roads sometimes in worse condition).
Avoid main roads, spanish car drivers often do not keep enough distance. Use michelin maps (http://www.michelin.fr/fr/groupe_france/home.jsp) (click "Les cartes et les itinéraires") and search for green marked roads. These are the roads of "touristic interest". If you like climbing: The Pyrennean mountains are near and worth a (maybe 2 days-) trip.
