Touring - Touring in the USA on a recumbent?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am going to do a tour next year of four or five weeks with a recumbent bike and a tent etc.
I was thinking of her majesties colonnies as being an interesting place to look at!
Any suggestions for a good 40 mile per day tour?:)

"Majesty's Colonies"

Congratulations on choosing the USA to tour, but I would suggest that when you pickup your maps and tour guide books to also pickup an American History book. I'm almost sure that "America" won the right to break your Majesty's tie to the USA. LOL :)

Pedaldog, congrats on choosing the USA for touring. I plan on doing the same thing starting next eyar too. Only I already live here. And my tours will be 1 and 2 day tours to start with.

When are you planning on touring, what months? And what area of the US are you touring.? I ask because if you are in the midwest around the end of July you may be interested in hooking up with RAGBRAI, heres a link for more info www.ragbrai.com We'd love to have you join us for RAGRAI, even if it is for only part of it.

How will you be carrying your gear? Trailer, panniers, both? What kind of bike are you using for touring?

I have a Vision recumbent with a B.O.B. Yak Trailer. Just got the trailer this year. Can't wait to use it next year.

Thanks all for the replies.
I think I will probably arrive in California as I was in San Diego back in '90 with friends and they keep telling me to visit.
From there I really dont know but I would like to go Inland rather than just North.
Any ideas for routes are welcome. I will be doing it on my newest recumbent, a StreetMachine GT, and using Carradice "super c" panniers all round.
I take a small, Hilleberg Akto, tent and I reckon I wont take cooking gear as I will try for some civilisation????? each day. I hope to start sometime in late July or Early August. See some of you then,
