So Chipcom's 'move the VC debate to P&R' thread got me thinking. What does our overall agenda look like? I think we need our own manifesto, someone should write it down. Something that includes a little bit of everything, isn't acrimonious or condescending to opposing viewpoints, meets bicyclists' engineering standards, and that we can DIY, give to congress, the local community, or whoever to get the things we want done, implemented.

I have no agenda. I just want to ride.

p.s. You're welcome.

Nothing at all? You're totally happy with conditions as they exist? Mental, physical, existential and beyond?

Use the forum guidelines from bikeforums. That should suffice, and just modify to meet the intended audience.

I'd be happy if people understood how to pick a bike that suits their size and needs, and then learned how to ride properly. That would be the start. From there, they might even learn about safety, as well as their rights and responsibilities.

Sounds like a job for Ted Kazynski. I understand he's not real busy right now.

randya -

I tried this once before. Nothing good came of it. Look under "Practical Cycling" thread - it's locked now, for good reason.

Brian - you set down a lot of rules. They were quickly ignored. Give this until the end of the first page to see how it goes.

Can I nominate Queen's "Bicycle Race" as the theme song best embracing the ethos of the manifesto?

some of my slogans for the movement -
" Bikes got rights" ,
"let me ride in peace" ,
"harleys used to have pedals,"
"bikes do not support terrorism, contribute to air pollution or cause traffic jams."

"Bikes- first on the roads!"

Oh, wait, this is about a manifesto.... "We, the bikers, are the wheeled proletariat of rational transport...."

Are you sure? I thought Ted (or some of his clones) were busy posting obtuse/obsessed "cager" economy and "cager" culture bashing rants on this forum. Luckily they have not started mailing out their rants on fixing the "culture."

He's moved to a bigger house too.
