Im new to the biking game (5 months ) and I would like to know
Q1 can you escape the shape that you have, "I talking about the lower body here, ie Thighs butt and calves ?
Q2 Is this possible throught a well constructed programme.?
What Im trying to do is reduce the amount of muscle mass, to a certain extent, I have on my thighs and glutes, does this mean I have to become a distance rider? if so, so be it . To achieve this end though, what would I have to do in terms of a programme and nutrition?
help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
You can't be a cyclist and not have sizable leg muscles. Are you planning on a career in underwear modeling where quads are considered unsightly or something? If you want thinner legs stop cycling and work up to running 80 miles a week.

you got me all wrong!! :) ....talking about lossing a bit of chubb!!
Im not talking about becoming matchstick man or Derick zoolander ... Im talking about trimming most of that fat of my quads and glutes , reducing the my total percentage of body fat because it it all goes to my lower body, in order to be more competative... !!

As long as you're talking about reducing overal bodyfat, then yes, that is possible. Do you know what your BF% is now? If not, now would be a good time to get a base line. It's fairly easy, especially for a guy to change body composition. Ride lots, lift 3-4 times a week, eat a balanced diet (lean protien, but not too much), lots of fruits and veggies, good carbs, and after a few months you should notice a big difference.
I'm a chick, and as such lack the HGH and testosterone that allows for faster development of muscle. Even so in the last 6 months I've lost 10 lbs and have developed very defined quads that continue to grow, and I'm not even lifting as much as I should be. It's all about time on the bike.

If you burn more calories than you take in, then you'll burn off fat. Although you may notice it more in certain parts of the body, you actually lose it from all parts of the body at the same time. It's possible to target certain areas for firmness by working those muscles, but as far as I know, there isn't any way (other than liposuction) to lose fat from one part of the body without losing it from the rest of the body.
So, my prescription for you is this: ride your bike. A lot. :)
