Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Inkdwheels in SF on Sunday

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey SFers (and larger bay area),
Inkdwheels is going to arrive in Daly City (close to Seramonte center) this Sunday afternoon and will need some help with a couple of bulky items. So the idea is to get toghether in SF and ride to Daly City to help him out, followed by hanging out and drinking beer, followed by riding back to SF.
We shall meet at 11.30am on Sunday at the huge Bow and Arrow at Embarcadero and Folsom.
Anybody in?
I'm totally in if I feel better. Sick right now, but not as sick as I was yesterday.
Give me a call on Sunday when you're heading to the bow and arrow...
Yeah, i am in...damn SJ ride will never happen, it will be the day of the race that we finally do this ride.
oh well.
See you sunday.
Cool!
Never actually rode my bicycle to Serramonte center. Doubt we can use the Freeway.
Guess we can take skyline and drop in from the top. If anyone feels ambitious they can put toghether the route.

hey SF,
I'm visiting this week from New Jersey, and I'm really curious about the fixie experience around the city. If anyone wants to bring along an extra bike, I'll totally help move furniture or just come out for a spin.
Thanks!

That makes sense. Or just ride to the beach and follow the Great HWY.
The part after Skyline is a little hazy to me still. (haven't really looked at it either to be honest)
The destination address is: The address is 548 clarinada ave
daly city, ca 94015* (* address slightly modified to maintain privacy.)

After sf state, lake merced to southgate to fairway to 87th to sullivan to southgate to cerro to clarinada.
if you ride to the beach, yv1 and i will lay in ambush waiting for you all somewhere in the panhandle. if a different route is decided upon then we'll meet at the B&A.
p.s. Clayton, you're in the background of a photo from the MASH party, used in a little paragraph about the Bicycle Film Festival in this month's Mass Appeal(#37) pg.34 ! :)

I should for def be there at Rincon Park in the morning, but if I'm not, it probably means I'm lost and wandering the streets of SF. My number is 617 308 8274, give me a call if I miss the start time.

You'll want to be on the 9:19 Mountain View Caltrain to get up to SF at 10:36, otherwise the next train won't get to SF until 11:36.

Let me tell you a funny story about how instead of grabbing the 9:19 northbound, I goofed and got the 9:15 south. It ends with me writing you from my handheld in San Jose and catching the 10:19 north.

Thanks to everyone for showing me around a bit. Sorry I bonked at the end there, I knew I should have eaten breakfast.
(Notice the convenient excuse... this part is key.)
Sorry I couldn't make it down there. I went home and hacked up a pint of green junk from my lungs. Being sick sucks...

We rode across town, through Golden Gate, and down the shoreline. I hadn't eaten anything but a Clif bar and a hot dog all day, so I kind of died on the hill to Inkd's place. But it's a brutal hill. I will not be visiting often.
Then Blast Radius was awesome enough to accompany me to the train and wait around.
I think there were six of us (including Judah who had to skip out early on account of his "sick") but I might be missing one.
So wait...did INKD get ahold of anyone? He called me this morning to have me get on here and sayhe was hitting some bad conditions on the way, but I was nowhere near a computer....just sayin.....

dude, your new avatar is creeping me out.
(i wasn't there because i was trapped in a classroom with a bunch of ex-jocks, learning the finer points of the pole vault, triple jump, high jump, and long jump. it was about as fascinating as it sounds).

lol, no, i sorta knew what i was getting into, but i coach endurance for dirt, and the section on endurance was exactly 1 out of the 21 hours i was there, and the longest distance they talked about was 10k for track, which i call a warm-up or a sprint

Cool about coaching. Is endurance running the racing that you have been talking about?, I hate endurance...hurts to much.. I thought of the 800 meters on the track as an endurance race...gotta find as many match sprint meets as I can find at Hellyer..:D
"coach endurance for dirt"? Is that a club? Or just saying that you make dirt coaching?

The last (of many) big hills on the way to InkDs place.
All my other action photos didn't turn out.
InkD was still at Donner Pass when we got to his place with an ETA of 3+ hours so we left after hanging around little bit. Sorry it didn't work out. Tomorrow is MLK so maybe some other folks have the day off (I don't) and can help.

heh. i run trail races, usually longer than 30k, and just started running 50k. on my way to 100k.
my runners usually come from a marathon/half marathonn background, and are bored with (or get injured on) pavement, and are looking for more forgiving surfaces to run on. (i coach for a running club in the city).

Good 'ole St. Francis.
Did you guys take Sullivan? That hill is pretty crucial as well.
that ride was great except for my slow @ss getting dropped on every hill once we hit daly city...been spending way to much time in the office lately and not nearly enough on the bike. First real ride for my new bike, though, and it performed better than expected.

Yup. Sullivan and St Francis were the killers. There really isn't a flatter way to get to Clarinada is there. I mean Clarinada is pretty much at the top of a hill.

Pretty much. But there's really no flat in Daly City. Which sucks for me, I live right off Southgate.
You could have went up Eastmoor and then left on St. Francis instead of up Sullivan.
Or Callan. Which is next to Serramonte, super steeeeeeeeep.
