Kryptonite u-lock on top tube attached to something that cant be broken/moved, and then a kryptonite cable securing the two wheels that is looped to the u-lock, and i recently bought a small krypto cable for $6 for locking my saddle. Not sure if its necessary or not since my saddle has a bolt clamp, not quick release.

Well, I live out in the country and my house is quite far off of the road behind a hill. I keep it outside, under my front canopy unlocked. However, when in Dallas, I kept my xmart Schwinn locked with a ulock. I left it unlocked one night, and it was gone in the morning.

Front wheel off and placed beside the rear, U-lock through both wheels, chainstay or seatstay, around handy post. This makes it a little tougher to pry/jimmy the lock, and you won't get the wheels as easily. If you place your front wheel beside the back wheel on the drive side, it makes it a little harder to pilfer the rear der. No lock or locking technique is foolproof - if somebody wants it bad enough, they're gonna get it...

I used to live in areas where this was a concern. pinkrobe has the system down - works almost as well as keeping my bikes in Central Pennsylvania does. ;)

Either:
Inside
Between my legs
Locked to the top of my truck (yakima roof system w/ locks)
If none of the above are available - two combonation cable locks. going through both wheels and the frame.

I've got a tioga cable lock. Cheap as, but I loop it through the front wheel and frame and then chain it to the bike cage at work. Oh and it helps that the cage is in an underground security carpark which requires access cards.

I've had my bike stolen off of the porch when I was inside 20 feet away on BikeForums. From that I learned a lesson. All three of my bikes are now in my bedroom locked to their rack. When I take my bike out, it is never unattended. But if for some reason it needs to be, I use my OnGuard Beast Chain.
My house is usually unlocked. Bike is in garage.
I use a On Guard Doberman 5027 coil cable with bracket. I haven't used it much, but its always good to have one. Most of my friends don't use locks, but you can never be too safe.
My lock is worth $2.50 cnd, bought it from the dollar store. Things really light, you know compact!!!

When I am not on them, either: in the garage; in my office at work; or in the back of my SUV.

Bikes hang in the garage; the two expensive bikes are chained (Krypto lock and 3/4" cable) to overhead beams. Guess the other four are bait...

My Bikes are kept in a garage, but only one is worth stealing. When I'm on a trail or path I usually have one or both of my 6 foot, 200+ lb sons with me. Funny thing, no one wants to try to take a bike when they're around.

Pinkrobe: That is how I lock mine and have never had any issues with it. By having the bike parallel with the rack people can not tamper with it nearly as easy. Last year on campus it seemed as if there was an epidemic of bike vandalism. Bikes that were hooked on the rack with cable locks were knocked flat to the ground and the wheels were tacoed. Some people just need to find new ways to have fun.

I use a chain and lock purchased from the hardware store. It is about the size of a 700 x 28c inner tube, and it is house within this inner tube also. It is 6 feet 6 inches in length and a bit heavy, but not a problem as I can feel to some degree secure that it will be there when I return.
I saw a vid a while back about older style u-locks being opening with a bic pen. It seemed that the empty barrel of a bic was the same diameter as the key and if you shoved it into the key hole the plastic would take the shape of the key allowing you to open the lock. I wish I could find it. It was really quite intersting and quite scary at the same time. I think Kryptonite recalled the older locks since then

Yeah we hosted most of the videos and there's a giant thread in the General section http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=67493
We're well aware of the situation
kool kool i like the idea of taking the front wheel off and putting it next to the rear wheel then locking them 2 together then looking the frame to something unmoveable! mite try this with some kriptonite locks!
cheers guys

I hide mine under some grass.
This usually does the trick.

I keep mine in my apartment. If someone gets in to steal my bikes, they'll steal my other stuff too. As far as riding them outside, when I ride around in the city, I carry a Master Lock "Big-A** Hardened Chain" type lock with a flat key. If I'm out at the trail, I'll just lean it against a tree or something while I fill my water bottles just like everyone else does. The trail is in such a location that there are either a lot of people watching the bikes or there is nobody around for miles to steal them.

I take it in my office. I don't leave it outside at all. Both bikes are worth to much to me to risk it.

We used to think it would be more secure for my Santa Cruz Blur to be left in our locked house with the rest of the herd (5 bikes) hanging in the garage. However the Blur was stolen when our house was broken into and the other 5 were left untouched. So now we have a big-ass cable passing through the frames of the 5 bikes in the garage and padlocked onto the rafter. I know, I know, the wheels are still up for grabs, but how much security can you place in your own locked garage before it gets a little too anal? I have a new Blur on order at my LBS and when I get that, it'll be locked onto the steel shelving in another room. Part of the reason why the Blur gets such special treatment is because we have no more hanging space in the garage.....
When we drive to the trailheads, the bikes are in the truckbed with a shell and the alarm activated if we need to leave the truck (grab a lunch or something).

The DH bike stays in my apartment with a motion-detector camera on it. The XC bike has it's own spare office and comes with me to work. If I needed to lock up I'd probably take my road bike. Nobody steals road bikes. :)
