Condition? Pics? The 06 Caldera is a step down from the 05. It is equivalent to the 05 Cinder Cone. I believe the original price of the 04 is probably around $1000. Check out the specs on the 04 and you should see that the 04 is a much higher spec'd package. The new thing about the 06 is the change in the frame from rounded tubing to square. If the condition of the bike is good, if it wasn't abused and maintenance was kept up, I might consider it.

*And when we go on our ride, we could both have Calderas! ;) Tee Hee! :D

Man I dont know, I really need a new bike and a kona looks great to me. Im thinking either a cross country hardtail or a lower end 4 inch dual from kona like the kikapu. I can upgrade the parts to xt, and make the bike better. When I emailed the guy, the size for both of the konas he was selling was either too big or too small.

Yo sui where did you get your kona from?

Frank and Hanks bikes in Lafayette (Contra Costa). I got the last of the 05 Calderas in my size. They marked it down, due to it being last year's model. The price is pretty much the same at all Kona dealers. I guess they have to stick to whatever Kona says to sell them at. I would really consider that 04, though, if possible. What size are they and what do you need? My Cake is 17.5 inches and my Kona is a 16. I thought a 16 would be too small but it turned out perfectly. Different bikes, different puposes, different feel. I never thought a 16 would be good. You ought to try it out before you say no and someone else snags it.

Im minimally a 19 inch. I could ride a 20, and the bikes are 18 and 21.. too big and too small.

Okay, since you won't TRY the 18, will you PM his number and the ad to me? I'll look at it for my friend. He needs a bike and maybe he could go with us on the ride. Just kidding. I would never take it from right under your nose. I never thought that a 16 would fit me. I have a 32 inch inseam. It's not too small.

What, how tall are you? 6'3"?

You party pooper. Kona's are nice. Getone getone getone.

I want a kona bad no doubt about that. Just not a 2004 model, Id rather get a brand new kona. Im 6'1-6'2 something like that

When I emailed him he said he would sell the caldera for 500

I was literally about to get a trek 6500 like 2 months ago when I decided maybe I wanted a specialized or kona. Konas get more respect so I assume they are nice bikes.

I've seen that ad! It's somewhere near me! Come up and I'll go with you to check it out! What is your inseam? The new Kona's have a nice frame but the specs really went down. Even the guys at Hank and Frank said that the frame is not that much stronger than the 05. It might make a slight difference if you dirt jump it, but it's not a jump bike. The fork alone is way better than the 06. Yeah, it looks cool and I almost got an 06 too. But for the specs, I figure I wouldn't have to upgrade so soon. Everything on the older bike is one or two notches higher than the new one. Since they did the new frame on the 06 they had to compensate on the components.

Sorry if I sound pushy. It's just that it won't hurt to look. He's had it on for about a week now so maybe, just maybe he will be motivated.

I kind of have a little bit of a niche about buying used things. I know it sounds weird, but unless it looks brand new(those bikes don't) than I won't be happy with it.

The good thing is that its great that the frames are better in 06 cuz If I get a new bike Im going to upgrade to all xt components(I allready have the crank and bb and rd/fd xt parts)

Well if you are ever up this way, I can go with you to look at Konas. But you know what? There's a Hank and Frank in Oakland too. That would be closer for you. Their phone number is (510) 654-2453. Address is 6030 College Ave.
