What we are doing: Beginning on May 26, '06 - the crew for 'Pedal' will leave the Pacific ocean and head east, heavily following the Adventure Cycling Association's Northern Tier Route, ending at Bar Harbor, Maine.
What we are looking for: Persons who are young & adventurous at heart - eager to leave behind all their comfortable surroundings, eager to do something that scares them, to push themselves physically and mentally to the point of exhaustion just to remind themselves that they are alive. Do you have to be an avid bike enthusiast? No. Do you we prefer you've gone on prior long distant bicycle trips before? We are looking equally hard for those who have, and those who haven't.
Whether you're 19, just out of high school, and are looking to see the world - or you're 73 and have done this bi-annually for the last 17 years - or you're 40, leaving on your first bike trip, one that you've been planning since you were 20. We are looking for people of all ages, of all backgrounds, from all corners of the world.
What do you do next: If you are interested, simply contact Mike and express your interest. If you prefer you can go into great detail about your reasons or inspirations for riding, or your biking history, if any. You can share any information you might feel better sparks our interest. We look forward to hearing from you.

haha, they make a bike ride across a country sound like a crazy-hardcore-never-been-done-before-reality-tv-show kind of a thing haha. Silly reality tv shows...they really are struggling for new ideas when they have to make people bike across the usa...really struggling...i used to work in a tireshop...now theres a reality tv show equivilent to OCC...TireShop...I can see it now..oops...i should keep my mouth shut, some one might do that.

Kind of a bad "spin" on touring in my opinion. To grab hold of that "hipster" demographic, maybe have all the participants wear all black outfits, listening to ipods...

I'd love to, now someone just has to convince my boss not to fire me.

>>a four day stretch of never-ending up and down cliffs, winding through a mountainous dessert that pushes you physically and mentally past any point of exhaustion/ hopelessness that you could possibly imagine>>
Ah yes, exhaustion and hopelessness. My two favorite aspects of bicycle travel. The quote did remind me, though, to get an early start on my tax return!
Dang it... I really need to start on my tax returns too.

Mike, have you had a look over these sites?

There are those of us who "do something that scares them, to push themselves physically and mentally to the point of exhaustion" every year. It's called: "ultradistance cycling" ... or in my case, my specific type of ultradistance cycling is: "randonneuring". :)

Tell Ya what, you fund it, I'll ride it, AND I'll even save you some $ by letting you & the camera crew stay home!!!! Plus you won't need to remind me that I'm alive ('cause I already know)! And if you REALLY gotta spend that extra $ I'll take it for job loss compensation. With that much dough I'd probly turn around at Maine & go up to Alaska!
To sorta quote Mike,
"I look forward to hearing from you".
Roger: I have a background in videography and NLE so perhaps between you and I and Mikes funding, we'd have our docu-drama - and a free vacation. :p
I was thinking about the funding aspect of this while I was out on my ride today. If they were willing to pay for all my expenses for the entire trip, and my tuition and books for my next year of University, and ensure that I arrive in Boston by mid-August ... I might be interested!! :D

all the kidding aside it could be a pretty cool film. If I was doing the film I would probaly hook up with adventure cycling on one of thier transam tours, ACA tours always attract a very diverse group and some interesting dynamics usually take place on thier tours.

Chris,
Can I join? I can bring Brazilian models wearing bikinis. ;)
