In this case, I didn't bike up there. I rode to the base camp at the bottom of Mt Barney, but that climb involves scrambling through trackless bush for much of it (not to mention climbing over rocks and so on). I wouldn't want to put any scratches on that spanky bike now, would I?

Well I would have thought that you would have used the opportunity to get in a bit of `cross training' and carried the darn thing up there . we're disapointed with you Chris:D
You really started something this time! . Guess we are all going to have to drag out some scary pictures to frighten children and animals:lol:

It looks a bit like some places in Oregon, but with different folliage. Thanks for the photo. It gives us a better image of your world.

What that building on the peak beside you?

Now that is the outback! MeHT, it looks like it is just a natural formation not a building. Then again I may be wrong.
It looks like it hasa roof and windows. Looks like a medieval monastery, imho.
Are you in Australia`s blue Mountains there Chris?
I`m just guessing, but the scenery does look, well blue!

My thoughts exactly, given your spanky hairstyle!

Ummm, that 'building' is actually the peak itself. Mt Lindsay to be precise. A lot of ex-volcanoes around there.

Nope, I was at the summit of Mt Barney, South-west of Brisbane. The surrounding mountains look blue because of the eucalyptus haze.

Noice shot mate! So 'ow many beauties did you run across on your way up there? :D
Seems kind of unnatural.

Now that you mention it, it does look a little unusual, but it's definitely a natural formation. Mind you, it's nothing compared to some of the rock formations I saw when I visited the Granite Belt a couple of years ago.

It was formed by weathering. Over time the rock has been weathered to form the shap it is now. Weathering attacks the cracks, planes and joints in rocks. I guess i could go into alot more detail, but i can't be arsed right cause i've got a report to finish for tommorrow, otherwise i am f*ck*d.
it is natural, i sure thier are some websites about that explain ersional processes.
Stew
P.S. Look at photos of the Grand Canyon thier are some amazing rock formations.

No it's a dastardly mad-mans top secret hideout where he awaits world domination. Just out of shot Chris has his tuxedo waiting...
Richard
In the USA, a rock formation such as that is called a mesa.
Chris that can't be you. It doesn't look at all like the photo of you going up the 20%(??) grade that was posted last year.
And where is all the vegetation? You're always talking about bushfires. There's nothing to burn.

Chris L

The knee appears to be behaving itself now. It stood up to a big spanky headwind that I got at the end of last week so hopefully the problems are over.
(should I have said that? )

I wish that I was "skinny" again (though no one ever mentioned that I was ever really "skinny"). :(
I'm trying though, and am significantly down from last year. Skinny is better!

Cars would have significant problems in attempting to reach the summit of Mt Barney.
